I followed the pattern exactly - the so-called "foolproof" feather and fan pattern - and, call me a fool, but when I got to the end it wasn't near long enough to reach from wrist to wrist. Doh! So I added a few more feather and fan repeats and another koigu garter stitch section (I ended up with about 6" of koigu left!) and am now blocking out the lace. I can't wait to see how it looks when it's dry.

feather and fan
Looks good! I really like the colours!
I adore the colors you chose. From here it looks like a little section of the Adriatic Sea. :)
It look great!!! I love the feather and fan pattern and use it whenever I can. I once did a sweater from a Rowan book for three friends and just did a poncho with it. I love your color choice. edna hart
Um, I've never knit lace, but doesn't it stretch out when blocked?
So your "correct" length might be "GO-rilla" length?
I HOPE NOT.
The colors are so pretty together.
We're on the edges of our seats. Keep us informed.
Oooh! I'm really wanting to do a shrug lately.
Tres Cool!
I've turned the fan on so it will dry faster. I can't wait to see it.
I love the shrug! You are certainly prolific! It inspired me to try a similar thing with the Estonian Garden scarf/shawl. We'll see.
The shrug looks beautiful ... I love the blues together.
Yes, Laurie, I was expecting the lace to block out a bit. But the when I had gotten to the end of the pattern I was only at my elbow on the second sleeve. I wasn't about to even hope that the lace would block out a foot longer!
Thanks, Kimberly!
i'm looking forward to seeing it on. i did ship my socks yesterday as i wasn't sure i'd have time later this week, and the 15th is thursday, with my sock pal being so close (hope that's not a hint til it gets there, lol)
It's just beautiful! I couldn't see a way to order the pattern on their site. Can you only get it directly from the store?
Emily, Downtown Yarns doesn't have an online store. As far as I know, you have to go to the store and buy the yarn and then you can get the pattern for free. I think some folks have tried to call them to buy the pattern, but as they're really just a brick and mortar store, I'm not sure whether they do the whole phone ordering/shipping thing.
Live anywhere near NYC? Got any friends visiting the Big Apple anytime soon? ;0)
I bet you were getting worried by now, but now I've finally posted a pic of my sockapal2za progress on my blog. Please don't panick, I'll get them done in time :)
It sure looks pretty just laying there.
:)
