running with scissors

Now the Morehouse Merino shawl gets interesting. I finished the miles of stockinette last night and then I got to do this!

I bound off all the stitches, except those between the steeks. I pulled the yarn out of those pretty little rows until there was a rather shocking gap in my knitting. Even hubby looked worried.

And then I cut 'em! Either we've got a scarf with fringe or we've got trouble. She needs a soak and a block and then we'll know for sure.

Aha! I wa having a hard time visualizing how this shawl was going to work, but it's all clear now. What a great idea!

This looks very cool! Did you just make steeks with the sewing machine??

Holy Cow! Nerves of steel or what!

Those are frightful pictures - everything looks like it's falling apart and it's making me feel ill and it's very disconcerting. Are you trying to give us an early scare? hee hee.

I am excited to see the brave fringe and am trying to figure out which shawl exactly that you chose. It seems quite invigoration and looks like a fun knit.

I would have been having a heart attack doing that. I can't wait to see it all blocked! Your Gryffindor yarn is just about ready!

I didn't understand the purpose of the HUGE steek until the end of the post. But then it clicked. Fringe! How cool is that?...

Oh my stomach would be in knots!
Waiting anxiously to see the finished project!

I don't think I could have done it!

Fingers crossed! I'm guessing you'll make it work, and when it works, cutting is fun!

You are a brave, brave woman. I can't wait to see the finished result (I'm sure it will be beautiful). :)

eek! steeks! (goes and runs and hides her head in her stash) can't wait to see it post soak/block.

That's really scary! I remeber when I made my first Clapotis that actually dropping stitches on purpose felt so wrong :-)

it's difficult to look at these pictures...now we wait for the result...
