ahh, that magic moment when it starts to look like a thing

I think it was finishing the neck that really made the difference. I used Cashsoft DK for the neck, because the blue was just perfect! I know the original Thing shirts are all red, but since the boys will be wearing these as regular shirts after Halloween (that is to say, without the silly bright blue Fun Fur wigs), I wanted to bring a little of that crazy blue into the shirts.

just sew in the sleeves, mommy please

The boys are so excited about these shirts! While B has been enjoying trial fittings, S has been anxiously watching the progress of his Two shirt.

second verse, just like the first

He's been so patient that I decided to start sewing in the sleeves on his shirt first.

With the extra hour we got today from setting the clocks back, I should have no trouble finishing these up for tomorrow. Hooray!

Go, Alison! Those are going to look adorable. I laughed last night when I got to the door of a friend's Halloween party: she and her husband were dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2! Thought of your boys and smiled :-)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, these are the best Halloween costumes I've seen in a long, long time! Great job and have fun trick-or-treating on Monday. Will you be dressed as the Cat in the Hat?

Hi Alison! Love the costumes... they are SO great, and look like a lot of fun for your boys to wear as well. :) Just wanted to thank you for forwarding my name to Bliss as my Sockapal2za Sock Savior... she sent me a lovely pair and yarn to make another. Both of them are beautiful! I appreciate all of your hours of coordinating, to make this such a fun exchange.

Posted by: AmyB at October 30, 2005 6:15 PM

Lucky lucky boys and you are one great Mom!! They look wonderful!

Your knitting pace is just mind boggling. These are terribly cute. I can't stop ogling them! What an awesome idea and even more impressive execution.

Posted by: Amanda at October 31, 2005 12:07 AM

Good luck, you're almost there!

Posted by: Monica at October 31, 2005 12:10 AM

Oh, you are such a wondermom for these costumes! If I had kids, they'd probably end up in plastic drugstore costumes or sheets with holes in them.
There are pictures of the completed Hogsmeade Snowball Fight hat on my blog today, but the pattern will have to take a while to get written up!

Posted by: Emily at October 31, 2005 1:29 AM

They are so adorable! I can't wait to see the photos:)

Posted by: Deb at October 31, 2005 2:01 AM

Happy Halloween to you and S. and B.!

Wow... S & B are great little models! :) Hope they get lots of treats tonight! I have to say, the sweaters look fantastic! (oh, and btw... I say if they want to wear the fun fur hats... let boys be boys!)
Happy Halloween!
