t-day in nyc

We almost didn't go to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The weather reports had called for rain, snow, winds, and cold temps, so of course, it was dry and mild.

Spongebob

Chicken Little

Charlie Brown

When we told the boys we were going to a parade with big balloons, they said, 'can we have a balloon?' We explained that these balloons were giant and needed like 50 people to hold them down. They boys looked around and concluded that since there were only four of us, we couldn't get one.

How cool that you actually went to the parade!! We watched it on TV while cooking the bird and sides..

That is great that you got to go. When I was watching it on TV I thought of exciting it would be to go. I have NEVER been to NYC. Might have to fix that one of these days.
Happy Turkey Day!

Wow - that is sooooo cool!! When I was a kid you couldn't TEAR me away from the parades on TV. Now I won't let them watch anything else if one is on, even though I'm too busy making Thanksgiving dinner to watch. I used to dream of going to that parade when I was a kid and seeing the floats and Santa. My mom always said, HUH? You're crazy! heh I bet it's a fun holiday tradition for a lot of people who are able to attend. How nice for you and yours that you can. THANKS for sharing your photos - glad yo'ure not the ones who got hurt when the float hit the light pole! :)

LOL...what a cute story. Thanks for the fab photos. Thier was something in the paper about the NYC parade...they had an accident with one of the ballons.

You've given me a chance to see more of the balloons than I saw yesterday in my few glimpses of the parade on tv. Thanks! :)

Too funny. I've never seen Macy's Parade in person - that must be a ton of fun - it's great that the boys will have such a great experience to remember!

Oh, I've always loved those balloons! How cool for your boys to see 'em for real.

It must be such fun to be able to actually attend the parade!

Posted by: Vicki at November 25, 2005 11:23 AM

Well, that makes sense, wouldn't want you and your family taking off for outer atmosphere. LOL

Glad the boys opted out on the "souvenir" balloons. Happy Thanksgiving!

Your boys' and their hyjinks always bring a smile to my face. I am thankful for you, your blog and your allowing us to share the life of your FAB boys!

That must have been a really fun day for the boys! Here on the Left Coast we have the annual Tournament of Roses Parade. One of my daughters actually made it to the last "cut" for Rose Princess, after years of going to the parade and, of course, "petaling" the floats. The builders have volunteer groups do the work and give their organization $$$. One of the builders is in our neighborhood and it's always exciting to watch the floats roll by (at midnight) on their way up to the parade route!

I always used to watch the Macey's Thanksgiving Day parade. But the last several years, the TV coverage really emphasizes the Broadway musical performances. I guess I'm too much of a traditionalist to consider that an integral part of the parade. I want to see the ballons & even the marching bands. It always reminds me of the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" - the original - with Natalie Wood. It's my favorite Christmas movie. It must have been so much fun to see it in person, esp. with those 2 adorable little boys.

What a dream! Charlie Brown is my fave. Happy Turkey Day (a day late), Alison and Family!!

well, that was totally cool! i can remember gluing myself to the tv as well, as a child. my kids don't care (sniff). they'd rather watch power rangers, and jimmy neutron and danny phantom. sigh.

glad to hear you weren't around the m&m balloon that hurt those two people.

Day-um. You mean I was within a few blocks of you on Thursday and didn't know? (I was the one on 38th Street and Sixth knitting on an orange sleeve, looks like you were a little farther uptown.)
