december 13, 2005

tuesday is knitalong day

Sockapaltwoza sock savior socks you have to see....

Anna's socks for Judy
Brynne's socks for Pam
Joan's socks for Kristel
Kim's socks for Alison (scroll down to Dec. 1)
Regina's socks for Lindsey

A big thank you to these generous knitters and to my other sock saviors, including Carry, Jody, Judy, Julie, and Katherine.

Last call for sock saviors! I've got seven names left on the list (one of whom needs a sock savior for their sock savior). Dare I ask if there are more generous knitters still out there?

In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, fellow holiday knit-alonger, Raellyn, has donated a little pressie for the post-holiday contest. (Shhhh, I think it might be stitch markers, like these beauties that she sent me!) If you recall, everyone in the holiday knitalong who finishes all their gift knitting will be entered in a contest to win some little knitterly gifties. I've got a hank of some fabulous Atacama alpaca ready for gifting and, well who knows what else....

So remember to keep me updated on your gift count and get that gold star!

Hey Alison, send me a person, I will gladly be a sock saviour, though the socks will have to go out a little after the holidays ;)

Posted by: Amber at December 13, 2005 9:19 AM

I also would be happy to be a savior, but also would have to send them out after the holidays -- soon after. Thanks.

Posted by: Ann at December 13, 2005 9:22 AM

Alison, me too, on being happy to knit AND having to do it after the holidays. So if that's ok, sign me up!

Posted by: Ashley at December 13, 2005 9:54 AM

I can also be a savior if you still need one. hee hee.

:)

Posted by: Carrie at December 13, 2005 9:57 AM

Me five. I'd be happy to knit up another pair of socks for someone who didn't get theirs. Gotta get a few more holiday scarves out of the way firs, but I'd hop on it just as soon as I'm done with those!

Alison, if anyone needs a size 7 1/2 sock let me know I've got a pair already knit up in blue that is waiting for a willing recipient.

i'm so sorry i can't offer. knitting socks just hasn't happened for me yet :(

Posted by: rebecca at December 13, 2005 10:22 AM

I can be a sock savior, but only if I can knit them after the holidays! Let me know if you'd like help. I promise to be reliable :)

Posted by: Danielle at December 13, 2005 11:05 AM

If you still need a sock savior, email me. I'd be happy to knit for someone.

Posted by: erin at December 13, 2005 11:21 AM

Me too if you need me but after Christmas day - I am still finishing presents at the moment - I will be done by the 25th ( she says with her fingers crossed :-)

Posted by: Janine at December 13, 2005 11:26 AM

If you still need sock saviours please let me know.... although you do seem to have a few volunteers here already.

Posted by: Kira at December 13, 2005 1:34 PM

I see you already have quite a few volunteers to help out the sockless pals, but if you need one more, I'd be happy to help out.

Posted by: Rachel at December 13, 2005 1:51 PM

I can also help, as long as a January arrival is okay, and they're willing to put up with what's in my stash... my yarn budget is nil. Oh... and that they're willing to accept crocheted socks. ;)

Posted by: Andrea at December 13, 2005 2:05 PM

I have one sock finished and I'm close to turning the heel on the second one in a 2x2 ribbed pair done from Knit Picks Simple Stripes, colorway "storm," that I haven't earmarked for anybody. I could send them out by the end of the week. See a picture of the first finished one here.

Let me know!

Posted by: Bev at December 13, 2005 5:35 PM

If you still need some help, pls let me know. I will gladly help however it will have to be a January thing...

Posted by: Susanne at December 13, 2005 5:40 PM

i never heard from my sockpal, so i have NO idea if she got the socks... have you heard?

i'd volunteer as an angel- but... i'm moving kinda slow these days. next round? i'm totally helping out!!

Posted by: rachel m at December 13, 2005 6:13 PM

I'll be a sock savior!

Posted by: Jen at December 13, 2005 7:15 PM

Hey Alison, I'd like to donate a prize for the holiday gift knitalong. It's the free gift that came with my Rowan international subscription--the pattern for the "Froth scarf" plus 2 skeins of Kidsilk Haze.

Posted by: Stephanie at December 13, 2005 7:36 PM

If, after you get through all these amazingly awesome and generous knitters before me, you still need a sock saviour, I would be happy to volunteer! This Christmas I've finally stopped selfishly only making socks for myself and have turned out a pair for my mom, I'm working on a pair for my best friend and would be more than happy to keep up this generous feeling by making one more pair for someone who truly needs them :)

Posted by: Miss. Sarah at December 13, 2005 8:04 PM

My sock pal never did come through, although he emailed a couple of times. :(

Posted by: Bliss at December 13, 2005 9:33 PM

Another volunteer! I could likely get them ready in time for the holidays, too. Happy to help!

Posted by: Gina at December 13, 2005 11:34 PM

Wow, what a response! Every time I start to get down about how many pals haven't come through, I am just amazed at how many MORE of you are willing to knit an extra pair of socks. Thank you, thank you!

I've already contacted a few of you. If I don't end up contacting you to knit a pair, know that I am still beyond grateful for your generous offer. Mmmwah! :)

Posted by: alison at December 14, 2005 1:43 AM

Hey Alison! Even though I haven't gotten my socks, I'm up for being an angel... I've stopped the holiday knitting and am almost done knitting for the shop, so I'm willing! :)

Hi Alison,

I loved my sock saviour socks so much I will be happy to be a sock saviour ... recipient must however be happy with me using whatever sock yarn I have on hand (it will take too long to order new sock yarn b/c of holiday shipping), and it might take some time to knit (b/c of X'mas knitting and time sending over to US). Best
