why not start another pair of socks?

Just because I haven't finished the blue ones yet, doesn't mean I can't start another pair, right? I've got three more pairs to make here, and I don't want to fall into a sock slump.

I'm knitting these socks from the leftovers of the Shepherd Sport I used for the two pairs of tech guy socks. I had about 3/4 of a ball extra in each color and am hoping that it's enough to make two socks. Pretty please?

I wonder what sort of sacrifice I can offer to the yarn gods....

Mmmm, toasty -- especially on a bone-chilling day here in NH! Those are nifty DPNs, where do your elves buy their needles? :)

p.s. My sockpal2za socks are nice and warm today!!! Thanks for organizing that swap!

I can make 1 pair of socks put of a skein of Shepherd Sport. I wear a size 7.5, they have to be toe up, I use ALL of the yarn, and the cuffs aren't long but not short either. so I think 1.5 balls should be enough.

Well if it looks like you are going to run out why not reverse the colours on the second one - fraternal socks:-) and no there is no reason why you can't have more pairs of socks on the go. I have two going and it would be more but I have run out of the right size needles!

Thanks for the info Jayme and the idea Janine. I hope I make it!

Heather, all my fun colored dpns are Comfort Zone needles. I enjoy using them cause the fun colors make me smile. And when I think about how much knitting I still have to do before Xmas, I need any help I can get!

I hear the Knitting Gods like chocolate chip cookies, especially set out by the knitting basket before bed time.

If you used 2 balls for each pair so far, and had 0.75 balls left over (x2), that means each pair took 1.25 balls. So you should certainly be able to get another pair out of 1.5 balls. :)

I'll be interested to see how much you've got left of each color when you're finished! :)

I can usually get a pair (women's medium) out of one ball, with contrasting heels and toes. You should be fine. Plus, if you alternate between pairs, then every time you pick up a sock, it's a new one, right?

I love reading your blog. I have decided that I am going to start learning to knit. I am a sock freak and since I am always complaining that I can't find cool socks here I figure I might as well learn to make my own.:)

Yes, Sarai, that confirms my maths, but I'm only guessing on the amount that I have remaining and I'm not using equal amounts of each color, as you can see. Theresa's one ball (with contrasting heels and toes) = one pair women's socks makes me nervous, since I don't have one ball of the gray. So I'm still knitting with my fingers crossed! And working on knitting god bribes. Thanks for the tip, Kathy! ;0)

I just love the needles you are knitting with. I orderd them after you mentioned how wonderful they are to knit with, you were not kidding, Thanks!
