made it!

my long socks ready for their long trip

What a long strange trip it's been - one leg was too large and had to be ripped, then I changed my mind about the cable and ripped out an entire leg again, then I knit two legs, about 8000 little cables in those heels, and finally some simple feet.

look at how that swrily pooling matches up on the back

So, did you make it?

WOOT! They are awesome. I made it--but not this spectacularly.

Posted by: Ashley at May 1, 2006 8:08 AM

I made it! Tomorrow they will be all dressed in their official wrapper and start their journey.

Your sock pal is one lucky knitter.

They're so pretty!

I tried to mail mine on Thursday. The machine at the P.O. happily took my money for postage, but didn't bother to tell me I needed to fill out a Customs form. So the socks were returned to me on Friday, with a customs form taped to the package. I filled it out (uh, how much are hand knit socks worth? I put the cost of the yarn...), and left it for the mailman to pick up on Saturday, while I was off climbing a mountain. But he didn't pick it up! So now I'll attempt to bring them to the Post Office again this afternoon, after I spend my morning steeking a sweater. Those socks better make it! I'm so frustrated.

(So if my Canadian sock pal writes to ask where her socks are, they *are* on the way. I have no idea how fast intl shipping is to Canada. Hopefully not much longer than mailing within the US.)

I made it as well. Now I just have to find the appropriate postcard! Those are some awesome looking socks Alison!

Posted by: Samantha at May 1, 2006 8:37 AM

Beautiful socks Alison. Ready to mail here too...

Posted by: Ann at May 1, 2006 8:42 AM

they look great! what a lucky sock pal you have! :)

Mine are packaged up and ready to ship at lunchtime today!

Posted by: jess at May 1, 2006 8:53 AM

Yep, I made it, but not with anything so lovely or BIG!

Mine are all washed and are blocking away while I'm at work. I'm posting pictures tonight and then I'm assembling the mailing package. No all-nighters were even involved!

Posted by: anmiryam at May 1, 2006 8:58 AM

I finished my socks a few weeks ago, but do you know what I'm having trouble with? Finding a post card to put in the package. I think I'm going on an expedition tonight!

Posted by: Jenn at May 1, 2006 9:24 AM

Very, very pretty. And I like the way that one's eye is drawn to the heel. These socks would look great with a pair of backless clogs.

Posted by: colleen at May 1, 2006 9:43 AM

mine are all boxed up and ready to go. Just trying to get the update together. Still waiting to hear froma few.

Posted by: erin at May 1, 2006 9:44 AM

finished mine on saturday! gonna hunt for the perfect postcard (and some chocolate) today and then off they go!

Posted by: gleek at May 1, 2006 10:02 AM

Ohhhh La LA! They are gorgeous!! I LOVE THEM! Someone is going to be one very lucky lady! Mine are all wraped, packed and ready to go on their journey;o) posting to my blog today!

Posted by: Michelle at May 1, 2006 10:12 AM

Beautiful socks Alison!

Mine are wrapped up and waiting for me to find a postcard so they can start their journey tomorrow. :)

Posted by: Heather at May 1, 2006 10:23 AM

Yes, I made it, but it was a bit too close for comfort this time by my own fault! And wouldn't you know it...the day I finished is the day my camera died for good, but I managed to get blurry pictures with a horrible, cheapo camera I picked up. All that's left is to print the label, tuck a postcard, a note, and an extra goody inside , wrap it up and send it on it's way! Hooray!
Thank you again for a fun sock trading experience. I'm glad you asked for some help this time around.
I'm glad I didn't request knee highs, since then I'd have to wait in torture wondering whether those gorgeous socks you made are for me! I'd be skipping around in them like a fairy in spring!

Posted by: Siri at May 1, 2006 10:48 AM

Those are really beautiful, the heel is amazing. I just made it (well, still finishing--there won't be any blocking for these babies) and they will be ourt the door tomorrow. Once I get a postcard. But they are off the needles and kitchenered. ;-)

Posted by: Jennifer at May 1, 2006 10:48 AM

Lovely socks Alison!
Mine went on their long journey across the pond and the States last Wednesday so hope they make it to their destination this week.

Posted by: Marie-france at May 1, 2006 10:59 AM

How much Koigu did it take? Inquiring minds want to know!

Posted by: Beth S. at May 1, 2006 11:37 AM

Just a note to let you know I finished up my socks this morning. I'll try to take some pictures tonight, and will have them in the mail first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully, they'll be on her feet by the end of the week!

Posted by: Amanda at May 1, 2006 1:19 PM

Impressive, and really beautiful. Hope to see a picture when you are wearing them next! :-) I made long long socks once, have never used them though... :-)

Posted by: Hanna at May 1, 2006 1:31 PM

Woohoo! My socks are ready to go! I can't wait.

Posted by: Jennifer at May 1, 2006 2:05 PM

You rock!

Posted by: wendy at May 1, 2006 2:11 PM

I finished but then I put off the sock-washing until last night. So, they are now drying. I hope they will be dry to send tomorrow...if not, they'll definitely be sent by Wednesday!

Thanks, Alison, for a great sock-a-long! Your socks are adorable.

Posted by: libraryliz at May 1, 2006 2:20 PM

Amazing! Fierce knitting skillz demonstrated here!

Posted by: Mary at May 1, 2006 2:38 PM

Yes, I made it, but have had some of the same problems shipping to Canada--took it to my ups store and they called back to say they REQUIRE a phone number for the recipient, (which makes some sense, but not a lot to me), so now they are having to go mail,.....so my Canadian sock pal might be hanging on too, Rebekkah. But all shall be well (as well as warm and fuzzy) soon, I hope!

Posted by: alliesw at May 1, 2006 2:39 PM

I made it even though I am the lamest blogger ever (no pictures, and hardly any mention of the little buggers).

Posted by: Seanna Lea at May 1, 2006 2:43 PM

I made it too, but :( my name is not listed as finished under sock sister Ashley. There are two Dana's listed but the links show they are the same one. Can you please correct this? Thanks, and thank you for arranging this sock exchange, I was so excited to complete my socks and send them out, and now I'm anxiously checking my mail for MY socks. Too much fun!!

Posted by: Dana at May 1, 2006 3:13 PM

Excuse me but I thought we had till May 2nd. I got plenty of time, so long as the family doesn't expect dinner tonight. Those look fabulous!

Posted by: Julia at May 1, 2006 3:21 PM

Hi Alison! Those socks are gorgeous, and your pal is very lucky!

Are you going to organize another sockapaloooza? I would love to be involved this time around!

Posted by: Ang at May 1, 2006 3:30 PM

They look totally awesome! Great, fantastic, beautiful. Great job.
I finished mine Sunday at church...and left them there. Thankfully my dad goes to work near there so he'll get them for me!

Posted by: emily at May 1, 2006 3:31 PM

Those are too fab! Can you believe you're done? Good work!!!

Posted by: Carolyn Mae at May 1, 2006 4:01 PM

Posted by: Nat at May 1, 2006 5:49 PM

I made it, with a little room to spare!

Yours are beautimous!!

Posted by: Gina at May 1, 2006 5:53 PM

Great socks, I'd really prefer that cable to the lace one as well, very clever!

And YES, I finished :) BUT I have a crazy day with a deadline tomorrow, so I won't make it to the post office. But I promise to ship on the 3rd.

Posted by: helene at May 1, 2006 6:45 PM

Lovely, lovely. The patterning looks almost psychedelic.
Does your postman always ring twice when he brings your sock yarn?
:)

Posted by: Micky at May 1, 2006 7:35 PM

Posted by: Kelly at May 1, 2006 7:41 PM

MADE IT!!

Posted by: patty at May 2, 2006 8:40 AM

Yes, I made it! I'll be a couple of days late getting them packaged up and sent, though, due to unforseen job busy-ness. I checked out the Sockapaloooza list, and I was thrilled to see that it has turned very red in the last day or two! So many people are finished now! Way to go, team!!!

Posted by: Amy at May 2, 2006 8:46 AM
