this is better

Oh yeah, immersion dyeing is the way to go for me. More control. Less mess. Just the colors I wanted!

Now I'm excited! I'm off to wind more yarn. I'll mix more colors tonight after the boys go to bed. And tomorrow we dye.

very nice! I still love the first hank, though!

I like that, can't wait to see it knitted up. I like the first skein too, don't judge it till you knit it - you might be surprised!

Fun! Is that self striping sock yarn? It'll look cool! :)

Wow...looks like candy.

That is a fabulous red! What was your inspiration for this colorway?

Looks great Alison!

Did you have any trouble with wicking? When I do immersion dyeing I always have a heck of a time getting the colours to stay where they're supposed to...

That turned out great!

Yup! I second the motion for imersion dying.

That yarn looks really awesome. I did a bit of dyeing on friday due to all the people out there that are dyeing such pretty things. It's inspirational! I used One Shot and I posted pics on my blog =).

The colors look great. I'm thinking this colorway reminds me of sock monkeys, with the red and brown and white.

Ooh! I love it! It makes me think of cherry coke. Yeah, I am weird.

Oh, the fun w/o the work!

Love that red - what kind of dye were you using?

Posted by: Laura at May 8, 2006 1:27 AM

I'm so, soooo impressed by the control. Mine are so damned messy. What the heck is your secret??? I can't hang things over the edge like that because I have a gas stove. *pout*

Nice colors...
remind me of chocolate covered cherries. Please share the techquine of immersion
dying.

Is immersion dyeing where you put each section of the yarn in a different pot with a different color? (Like how you did your last Kool-Aid dyeing project?)

And you find that superior to "hand-painting" all in one container?

Just trying to better understand the different options out there....

I am also in the Dye-o-Rama and am going to try acid dyeing. What do you think about the ProChemical starter kit? Are you able to produce most colors with the starter kit? This is all so new to me but also exciting!

FAB!

hee, hee... it's fun to find somebody as obsessed with their new dyeing hobby as I am. Let me guess, you don't get nearly enough sleep any more either? :D The experiments and possibilities are never ending...
