one cardi, hold the picots

After a lengthy blocking (and the pieces are still biasing!), I was able to seam up crinkle.

Just a few dozen miles of picot edgings left to do on this little thing. And it's one of those cast on 3, bind off 4 kinds of picot edgings, so it's going to involve like a million stitches. Someone tell me this sort of thing goes more quickly than it sounds.

it is so cute! the picots will go fast, because you will keep looking at them and realize how well they pull the whole cardi together! :)

As for the picot edging, just keep a bottle of rum nearby and you won't even notice how long it takes.

Your stitches are lovely and perfect!
Nice knitting :o)

The cardi is so cute! At least thats the faster version of picot trim, all I know is I second the rum idea...

Such a fantastic sweater! I love it!! Rum/Vodka/Wine/Margaritas are always good, but alternatively, I'd suggest knitting the picots during a knitting group. Any kind of boring knitting goes so much faster when you're chatting and only barely paying attention to the knitting you're doing.

Crinkle looks like the perfect spring/summer ward off the AC type sweater! So pretty... You are a brave woman, I am not a picot bind-off knitter. I've tried it on a pattern or two, and the result was never as nice looking enough in my hands to be worth the effort. Anyone have any tips?

I think the stitch pattern is really pretty - sorry can't help on the picot never done that myself.

Posted by: trek at June 16, 2006 9:56 AM

the picots definitely make it. i might consider a crochet picot option instead, but either will look really nice.

Crinkle looks great! It's adorable. Don't stress too much about the picot edging. It really does go much faster than it sounds. I did one for a tank top and it went fast and made a huge difference.

Crinkle is supercute! I too think that the edging will go faster than what one thinks beforehand. At least I hope so, since I have Crinkle on my to do list.

It looks great, and I sure hope those picots go fast. (I can't give you better encouragement than that, being a picot virgin.)

Posted by: Lucia at June 16, 2006 10:31 AM

Oh, it's BEAUTIFUL! :-)

Posted by: Beth S. at June 16, 2006 10:33 AM

It could be worse. I'm knitting the edging on a twin size afghan right now (and for the rest of the week).

Posted by: Jessica at June 16, 2006 11:08 AM

Oh, it's SO PRETTY.

I'd recommend crochet instead of the knitted edging for speed.

Posted by: Daphne at June 16, 2006 11:19 AM

wow, a very pretty lady-like summer sweater.

Posted by: Sheryl at June 16, 2006 11:53 AM

I'm glad you're going first on this one....

Posted by: claudia at June 16, 2006 1:04 PM

Uh. Oh, yah. It goes by incredibly quick. Yah...*cough*

You will love it all the more when it's done, though.

Wow. I'm now officially in love with crinkle. I NEED to make this cardi.

Good thing there's a tent sale coming up at my LYS!

Posted by: mote at June 16, 2006 1:55 PM

Picot= Speedy. Really.

Posted by: Beverly at June 16, 2006 1:56 PM

That's just absolutely gorgeous! Did I mention that I want to be you when I grow up?

Posted by: Sachi at June 16, 2006 2:01 PM

Wow!!! I absolutely love this knitting pattern, and the cardigan is adorable. Hang in there! It's all worth it...just imagine how happy you'll feel when you're wearing it!

I absolutely love this sweater. Please where can I find this pattern

Posted by: Lindsay at June 16, 2006 4:48 PM

If it makes you feel any better, i just finished a picot bind-off on a tablecloth...approx. 950 stitches & i had to cast on 2, bind-off 3. =( took me 4 evenings to get it all finished.

CHEERS!!

Posted by: denise at June 16, 2006 5:49 PM

Ooh, I can tell you for certain that the picot edging really does go faster than you think it will. I just did a ton of cast on 2, bind off 4 picot edging for my Merging Colors Mobius Capelet the other night and it actually took far less time than I thought it was going to. Whining about it probably took more time than actually doing it...

Posted by: Laura at June 16, 2006 6:57 PM

It's lovely already, even without the picot edging. Fortunately, I know nothing about such edging, so I can be blissfully unaware of the horror...

Posted by: Chris at June 16, 2006 8:07 PM

beautifull! If I were you I would so totally cheat and crochet on some picots. It is still supercute, though.

Posted by: Lene/Danmakine at June 17, 2006 6:33 AM

Gorgeous! About the picots---just keep reminding yourself how wonderfully beautiful it will be when finished!

Posted by: JennyRaye at June 17, 2006 7:47 AM

I tried doing a knitted picot for a Debbie Bliss baby sweater and the spacing of the picots was just not happening so after 3 failed attempts I just got out my crochet hook and finished it that way. It came out much nicer I think. This is the link to the project I did:

the cardi looks great! i just did one of those (evil) picot cast ons for a coverlet thing for my mom in a cashmere yarn - toook soooo loooooong.
um, but i'm sure yours will go much much quicker :D

Oy, I don't like that kind of picot...i'd go with Ann idea and whip out the crochet needle.
