weekend knits
Finally some knitting I can tell you about! More rain slowed business at the store this weekend, leaving me with time to start a new sample. A small swatch for KFI's Extra Angora turned into the Short Lacy Scarf from Ella Rae Book Two.

I've never really done a genuine lace pattern before (I just don't wear lace). But I have to say, it's pretty darned cool. The angora is a delight to knit with. I hadn't liked it so much when I was knitting the swatch, but when I started the lace, it's like the yarn felt better. So thumbs up for the Extra Angora. And (yes, you know what's coming) it's blue!

Late comment on the Crinkle ribbon--looking closely at the Rowan original, it may be that it was a wired ribbon (which looks great for a photo, but may not be comfortable to wear), so try out the ribbon possibilities as bows to make sure you like the look!
Oooh, I just knit this stitch pattern. Isn't it fun?
BTW: I have the chart, just in case the pattern doesn't.
So very pretty. I hope to start a lace pattern soon. I just have to get it all together. Wait a mintute, that will never happen! I'll try to get it mostly together.
I love you blog!
ooh, it looks really nice! I love that shade of blue.
i'm working on my first lace knit and it doesn't look any where near as good as yours - poo!
Lace - I love it and if you don't want to wear it as a scarf, put it on a dresser!! That is a beautiful shade of blue.
Book two has knee socks, too! Angora knee socks... Maybe you could fit those in between some design projects. I just bought the book, so I think I'll be making some for summer part III (aka winter in the rest of the US) here in Houston.
I really like the pattern. I just started my very first lace shawl in cashmere. It's slow going because I'm scared to death that I'll make a mistake. :-)
I'm wearing an almost identical scarf in blue cotton today! I must get hold of the Ella Rae book: I want another scarf like that..... I had terrible difficulties blocking it, though, it's curled dreadfully. It may be the yarn I used, but I'm very very interested to see the results of your blocking (I've got some soft Jaeger Yarn which may turn into my second version, ten years on).
~x~
Oh, yeah, Brynne, I LOVE those knee-high socks!
I can't believe you haven't done "genuine" lace before! What is your criteria for it to be genuine?
