august 4, 2006

second birthday

Why yes, we did bring back some legos and some yarn. Just enough for a little second birthday celebration for me and the boys!

slammer bike for B

technic truck for S

Lana Grossa Teamcolors sock yarn for me

And that's it.* Man, I was so good.

(* Okay, there were some other legos from Oma and Opa, but they're small and I didn't buy them. And then there's the bags of sock yarn I got at the factory store, but I'm not keeping those, so they don't count either, right?)

I want the Switzerland yarn. Nice haul!

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time. I think (hope) you missed the worst of the East Coast heat wave.

Welcome back! If you have a yarn sale I would love some German sock yarn:)

The picture of the Team color yarn reminds me of the confusion I experienced the first time I saw it: I don't get the English team, sorry. And how are you supposed to knit crosses with the Swiss one? ;-) Ah, you will know how to use it. Have fun!

Welcome home. I never count sock yarn as stash--it's a necessity!

Okay, love the blue and white sock yarn! That is so neat... team colors :) Glad you guys are home and having fun with those long summer days..

I KNEW there would be Legos and yarn. I LOVE the yarn. I'm curious though, how much did they charge (in Euros) per skein? I'd like to send some Euros to pals in Germany for some.

Wow, you showed some restraint!

My little family and I just found out that we're moving from the states to Kaiserslautern, Germany. Have you ever been there? Is there anything I should know about the yarn shops and such? I also spin. Do you know what kind of an "roving" industry I should expect while there?

I wish I had your willpower. Actually, I went to my LYS today to buy needles and only left with the needles (and two skeins of yarn). That's nothing compared to your willpower though :)

Oh, and sock yarn doesn't count toward stash, right?

Good fo ryoU!! Love the blue/white one

OK, now that you're home, can you do a post on how you store all of those Legos? (Seriously). Do the boys keep the models assembled after they make them? My guys tear them all apart, then lose the pieces, and I have to worry about the baby eating them, etc, until it drives me nuts. But they love Legos, so how do you keep it all together?

Posted by: Wendi at August 6, 2006 9:46 PM

Is it wrong that I envy you both the yarn and the leggo?

Posted by: Peeve at August 6, 2006 11:13 PM

I LOVE your team colors yarn. I can't seem to find it online. Do you have a US source?

Posted by: Nell at August 8, 2006 2:17 AM

I'm so impressed by your restraint! I love legos. I miss the days when my son was into legos.

I haven't seen the Lana Grossa Meilenweit Teamcolor yarn in the US or at any US online stores. I didn't even see it in the German stores! I got mine from www.joana-leyer.de. You have to know some German and hunt for it to find it in their menus on their site (it's in a group called Sockenwolle 100g).

The Regia Nation yarn is also very nice (but not available in all the same colors). You can find it at places like www.royalyarns.com and www.carodanfarm.com.

Best of luck!

My goodness! All that sock yarn?!

I need to start persuading my supplier to bring those sock yarns into Singapore! (Now, if we can only figure out how to get our men to wear woollen socks in the heat...may cotton or silk blends?)
