Fourteen weeks along and I've definitely got a baby belly. I've been going through the closet seeing what's wearable and what's not. And you know what's wearable? My Rosebud sweater, which, if you recall, was inspired by a maternity top I had when I was pregnant with the boys.
Poor Rosebud never got any wear. After I knit it and wore it the first time, I felt like I must have knit one sleeve a smidge longer than the other. I had always planned to cut one of the sleeves, take out a few rows, and graft it back together, but it never happened. But now, I'm thinking, who cares?! It's got just enough extra room for my early second trimester belly, so I'm wearing it!
And when I outgrow Rosebud, the Jess sweater I knit for my mom (which she gave back to me because she didn't like the fit of it) will be perfect, don't you think?!

where are they now?
Your baby bump is precious. Congratulations!
Great sweaters! You look terrific!
those are fantastic sweaters!can i ask where you got the pattern for the jess sweater? the bump, by the by, is precious.
What a cute "baby belly" :)
The sweaters will be perfect. I LOVE the Rosebud sweater!
I have always liked Rosebud and I am happy to see you wearing it :o)
How exciting to have a singleton after having twins. Won't your tummy be tiny...unless you grow a big ten pounder :o)
How much did the boys weigh, if I may ask?
Donna
How wonderful to have sweaters on hand that match the changes happening in both the seasons and your body.
congratulations! i'm one week behind you and i'm seeing the baby belly already too. rosebud is perfect and looks very comfortable.
by the way, i highly recommend bella bands if you don't already have one. fantastic way to keep wearing your jeans through maternity!
How cute. A friend of mine too a picture on the same day of every month and created a scrapbook page showing the progression. She also took it in the same place in the house wearing the same outfit. It was kinda fun seeing the stages.
You look good. I wouldn't say you've even come close to popping though! It will be fun to see you grow! :)
Great sweater. Your baby bump is just tiny! How cute!
I meant sweaters. I need to knit me a sweater!!
What a cute pregger mom (how nice it will be that the boys will be in school part of the time when the baby comes along). I had almost a 5 year gap between child #2 & #3 and loved that I had more time available for just mommy & baby time.
Love both those sweaters. And how handy to have them ready for future belly growth. :-)
To precious! I love the green cardigan. It is beautiful. Very flattering.
Okay, I have a completely selfish request, because I think this would be perfect - I think you should knit Kate Gilbert's ribbed maternity top from the recent IK (summer, I think)! I love it so much with the buttons on the side and the yummy ribbing that I'm tempted to make it for myself, even sans baby bump :)
Both of those sweaters look so comfy.
I agree with Donna. The Kate Gilbert ribbed maternity top is a must. It is very cute AND wearable for those in-between weeks postpartum.
i have to say that you are too cute, I'll bet the boys are exited about the baby too. congrats.
Alison - have you seen this?

Reminds me so much of what you're going through with S's (I think its his?) blanket! :-)
I'm coming out of lurkdom to tell you that you have the best sweaters for prepregnancy and pregnancy. Congratulations on the great news!
Your baby belly is beautiful and lucky you that you have 2 sweaters to wear already!
I love the Rosebud sweater! I'd love to knit it for myself, but unfortunately for me, what appears to be a baby bump is actually just my non-pregnant belly...And my youngest is 7! So I'm afraid the Rosebud sweater would give people the wrong idea...Maybe if I can get rid of that excess around the middle, but I've been trying for 7 years now and it's getting harder all the time...
first, i hope you are feeling better. the sweaters looks fab. btw, are you tall? because that's hardly a belly, i'm embarrased to say that mine looks like that and thier is nothing growin in it yet...[sigh]
Those knits will be perfect! :)
your sweaters look great so does your belly. I sure you will be making yourself a whole new wardrode as needed. good luck and have fun. hope your feeling better
Such a tiny tummy! You look like I do after a large meal.
Jess looks great on you--pregnant or not!
Congratulations! Very exciting news. What do the boys think?
It all looks great! But I have to mention that I love that you have your kids artwork framed in the background. I've done that as well with my daughters' early work and it makes me smile every time I look at it!
I can't believe it's nearly two years since you knitted jess.
I always loved it and it's a great decision to finally wear it.
You two look great in it :o)
Awwwww. That bump looks lovely in Rosebud and Jess. Thanks for the belly shot!
Glorious! Congratulations!
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....I got all teary seeing this,
my baby girl is in COLLEGE.
sigh.It goes by WAY too fast!
(but I still play with the legoes)
:)
Blessings for a beautiful baby
and a magnificent mama!
A ready made maternity wardrobe. Fabulous!
oooh, I am soooooo happy for you ( and for rosebud - I would think that it sucks for a sweater to never be worn! )
both the sweaters are so cute and flattering. i love rosebud... i've been wanting to make one even sans baby-bump :)
Perfect! I love them both!
I'm very late to the baby party, but wanted to add my congratulations! All the best!
Aw. Just wait. It will be gigantic in just a few weeks. The second time is nuts like that!
Your profile shots are beautiful - please keep them coming! and congratulations!
holy moley! i miss your blog a few times and bingo bango you're pregnant! congrats all around - as a mama of twins myself, i am sure the thought of incubating just one in there is cake, right ;) hope you are feeling the power of the second trimester!!!
