the secret

Now just why has there been so little knitting going on here at the blue blog in the last few weeks?! Didn't there used to be some pretty impressive speed knitting and, um, finished projects to see?

Well, the jig is up: I've been working on a rather big project in the background, which I haven't been ready to let out of the bag until now. Here it is so far:

I'm just starting my second trimester. Baby has stopped making me sick every two hours (ain't she sweet? No, we don't know the sex yet, but the force is strong with this one, so I'm guessing girl), but I'm still pretty low on energy these days. Hey, I'm making a baby here!

So, yes, it's official - everyone is pregnant. There's no stopping this epidemic! It's even made it's way to the UK, go see!

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! I hope it's a little girl, but boys are nice too. Take care of yourself.

YAY for Alison! I'm so excited that we can talk openly about this now instead of just to each other. xx

Posted by: kerrie at September 8, 2006 9:24 AM

OMG! I can't believe it. Congratulations! I can't beleive you kept it a secret on the blog for this long.

Sigh, with the boys off to school. Now you'll have another one at home to look forward to.

And yes, everyone in the world is pregnant. (Just not me, thank goodness.)

Posted by: Pamela at September 8, 2006 9:31 AM

Yay! Congrats!

Posted by: Louisa at September 8, 2006 9:33 AM

Congratulations! I'm so sorry that you are sick! Organic frozen berries (cascade brand) worked really well for me. I ate boat loads of them...frozen.

Posted by: maneesha at September 8, 2006 9:33 AM

Congratulations! I've been wondering if a third child was in your plans. I know a girl would be nice, but a houseful of boys is fun, too! Take care!

Congratulations! How awesome that she/he will have the best big brothers ever.

Posted by: Sandy at September 8, 2006 9:40 AM

Congratulations!!! We thought about trying for another, but I have two hyper boys now. Don't know if I could handle another one! I'd really like to have a girl, though. It would be nice if you are having a girl, but as long as it's healthy that's the main thing!

Posted by: Sheri at September 8, 2006 9:46 AM

Congratulations, momma! I bet the boys are thrilled :) I bet you're totally planning lots of little sweaters and things.

Congrats! What a nice surprise! Hope you show us progress shots of the growing belly! Now that the boys are off to kindergarten (I just shipped my own boy off to kindergarten, too), you'll have lots of time to knit a new layette, right??!! :)

Take care! I'm very happy for you!

p.s. my own boy is worried his Legos will miss him. He can't wait to get home to work on his lego dinosaurs.

Posted by: Allison at September 8, 2006 11:12 AM

Congrats Alison!
You know..this is going to sound completely freaky, but when I read your post yesterday about the boys going off to K, I just sort of thought about you expecting. I think I thought of it because that is how myself and my siblings are spaced. One would start Kindergarten and my mom would be pregnant. In fact you could count on my mom being pregnant when she dropped a child off for thier first day of K!

Posted by: Carla at September 8, 2006 11:15 AM

Wow!! That is fantastic news! The boys must be so excited! Super big congratulations!

Posted by: Bertha at September 8, 2006 11:16 AM

Congratulations to you and the whole family! My kids are more than 5 years apart, and it has a lot of benefits. With my first one, I always thought it was an accomplishment to take a shower before 2:00 in the afternoon. The second time around, it helped to have someone keep a watchful eye so I could get some things done while the baby was awake!

Posted by: jocelyn at September 8, 2006 11:32 AM

OMG, that picture makes me cry! Congratulations, Alison, I'm so so happy for you and your family!
(Is this the wrong time to ask about sockapalooza 4? LOL!)

Posted by: Amanda at September 8, 2006 11:40 AM

Congratulations!!!!!!!! My daughter is pregnant too - her due date is 11/24 but, since her uterus ruptured witht the last one, she'll be delivered early by C-section. This one is a girl - after 2 boys altho hers came one at a time. Her oldest is a few months younger than your boys. I'm sending very strong girl thought your way (hey it worked with my daughter - I had strong feelings with the first 2 that they would be boys & even stronger feelings with this one that it would be a girl - her mother in law also had strong feelings about all 3 & we were both right - the last baby was due on my BD but was born 2 days klater - he turned 3 yesterday & this one is due on her MiL BD). I am so happy for you - a baby on the way is such happy news.

Posted by: Donna at September 8, 2006 11:41 AM

Congrats!

Are you sure there's just one in there. 'Cause how much fun would it be to have 2 sets of twins! (Yes, tongue in cheek. I want to take a 10 hour nap just thinking about it.)

Posted by: Rebekkah at September 8, 2006 11:41 AM

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing the FO. :)

Posted by: Ann at September 8, 2006 11:42 AM

Are you going to post about how the boys liked their first day of kindergarten? Their little faces looked so excited & full of hope. I always worry that school takes little children who are so excited to learn & makes learning so boring & unpleasant that they end up not liking learning quite as much./

Posted by: Donna at September 8, 2006 11:43 AM

Congratulations!

Posted by: Rebecca at September 8, 2006 11:45 AM

Congratulations!!

I hope you broke it to the boys a bit better than my dad did when my half sister was born, which involved shoving an ultrasound picture into my hand and saying, "That's your little sister." *grin*

Posted by: Julia at September 8, 2006 2:58 PM

OMG! Congrats! Just this morning I was agonizing about how much I would love another one, but do I really want to go through all that again (believe me, I totally have sympathy for morning sickness). It seems that everyone is turning up pregnant, and it is so making me ache for another (as is my 5 year old starting kindergarten and my "baby" turning two next month.) Maybe I will have to settle for watching everyone else in blogland.

Posted by: Kristina at September 8, 2006 3:02 PM

Congrats! You all must be excited! I had my second when the first was in Kindergarten and it works out so great. I hope everything continues to be wonderful!

Congratualtions! I have twin daughters, and when I was pregnant, when they were four, I longed for a boy. Well, we got our third girl and she is the most precious of all. This baby will be so easy for you as a singleton, you won't know what to do! My nurse in the hospital said I would meet mamas my whole life with three boys, that's how God evens things out. I wish you health and joy.

Congratulations Alison. Must be the year for new babies being made. Lisa G just had twin boys, Anny Purl is pregnant again, Emma from The Wool Shack is pregnant with her 3rd baby, and Kerrie and now you. How exciting! I just love babies and do not intend to have anymore even though I always wanted 3 kids, just not meant to be so 2 is fine. I am sure the boys will be so excited when the baby arrives, and make sure you take it easy. Always more tiring chasing after little children when another is on the way.

Posted by: Sue at September 9, 2006 7:33 PM

Congratulations!!!! How very exciting. Let's hope it's a girl. She has to bug those two boys. :)

Posted by: Tiffany at September 9, 2006 11:50 PM

Congratulations!!! Okay, not to encourage you, but I'm getting the 'girl' vibe too. She'll make gentlemen out of the boys - or they'll make her a tough cookie; win/win either way!

And it is everywhere - Anny http://annypurls.blogspot.com/ is expecting too!! There's gonna be a rush on baby yarn on a global scale.

I am now 32 weeks pregnant with my first. I had terrible sickness in the beginning which forced me to stop knitting (it made me soooo sea sick to knit/crochet) and I am since feeling better but haven't been able to pick it back up.... AHHHH

So I wish you many many weeks of peaceful knitting!

Good luck - from one Alison to another...
