felt this!

Now that it's December (the boys actually stopped eating breakfast this morning because they HAD to run through the house and change all the calendars), it's time to get going on the holiday knit gifts. One felted bowl for my great aunt, coming up! A skein of some pretty, pretty Manos, a quick peek into the One Skein book, and in about an hour, I've got an almost finished bowl. As usual with my quickie hat projects, I knitted this in one sitting until I needed dpn's and then stopped knitting rather than get up off the sofa to get the other needles. I was asleep on the sofa about 15 minutes later. Dang pregnancy, totally interfering with my late-night knitting!

oooh, felted bowl now there's a good idea. I was thinking felted boxes for some people as well. love felting. I'm with you on the whole pregnancy related falling asleep on the sofa trick, it seems to be haunting me at the moment.

Love that colorway. Mmmmm, yummy Manos, lucky aunt!

isnt it amazing how someone takes complete control of your body when you are pregnant?
with my 3rd baby i was so tired i would put the other two in their room to play, baby gate the doorway, then collapse in the hallway to sleep and still be able to hear them. :-)

Love how that Manos knits up -- it's almost a shame to felt that! I have a bowl or hat's worth of Manos myself. Was thinking of making a skinny version of My So-Called Scarf, but perhaps a bowl or hat will be better....

Ooooh, love that colorway. I too am making felted items for family for Christmas - mostly oven mitts & potholders for my many nieces & nephews.

That's why I love the magic loop. I never have to switch to DPNs, and I can keep my groove going.

That will be one pretty bowl!

Couldn't tell you how I found you, but so happy I did! The stiped knit cap you made looks exactly like what I'm trying to find, tho in a men's size. Any ideas? Your finished projects are absolutely beautiful!!

I LOVE the One Skein book, DH got it for my bday. I've made 3 the baby bolero, the clutch and now i'm working on a hat from that book.
(I'm on the knitalong also)
I love the bowls, but I don't know what I would do with them...so I have tried making them yet.

curious, what if you had started from the bottom? Would have still needed the DPN's? I've been thinking about making & felting hot beverage sleeves for gifts, but I like this idea!

Could be worse, you could be up all night with insomnia because of your pregnancy. Infomercials at 2:00 am is not pretty!

LOVE that color! And fast projects too! Can't wait to see the final felted version.

I did some mano bowls this weekend too - how do you get the bottoms flat...plus I had a hard time getting them to felt - so am just going to return them to the washer with a few loads this week!!
Knit on!

Oooh, I had no idea there was a problem keeping the bottom flat! I've never done a bowl before. I haven't felted this one yet - I'm working on it while my beginning knitting class makes a hat, since the techniques are the same - so I've got to go at their pace. I should be able to felt it next week and I'll let you know if I have any problems.
