man scarf

Ooh, this is a very manly scarf. It's all nice and texture-y, but not pretty or pattern-y. It reminds me of a nice houndstooth or check. Very male. And the beige cashmerino, what man wouldn't wear that?

The Last Minute Knitted Gifts pattern calls for a chunkier cashmere, so I've adjusted for my smaller gauge, casting on 35 sts and working in pattern as directed. Since I've subbed yarns and gauge, I'm not sure how many balls of the cashmerino I'll need. This first ball got me to 15", so I'm hoping that three will be enough (the pattern measurements say the scarf should be 50" long). If I'm lucky, I'll only have two more late nights of knitting (and we're talking, I'm so tired from working all day and really should be sleeping, what with the pregnancy and school tomorrow, but I've got to knit these few little Christmas gifts... nights) to go.

That *is* a very cool pattern! Very man.

You go, girl!

VERY manly! I'm working on a man scarf right now too that I'm hoping is acceptable to my nearly-a-man 15yo son.

Very manly! Time is ticking down, isn't it?

You know, I thought I didn't need LMKG, but I've seen so many lovely things made from it - nice work (and happy holidays!)

I made the full length scarf from LMKG last year and was "gently" informed that grown men don't wear their scarves quite so long--so I think you'll be more than fine with the 3 balls of cashmerino. It looks great in the smaller gauge!

Ooh, Monica, that's good news! :)

Very nice, and very manly. Get some sleep, girl. :)

Your scarf looks great! I made that in the chunky yarn, but I didn't get the same stitch definition. I like yours better. Great color too!

I do like how that scarf is turning out, so I will have to keep that one in mind for a future male gift recipient. I love LMKG, despite all the errata.

I'm making the same scarf right now for the Red Scarf project -- but was unemployed when I started it, so I'm working in Cascade 220 instead of beautiful cashmerino. A lady in the bus today told me the stitch pattern was "Fisherman's Rib".

Very MachO!

Very manly scarf and I LOVE the texture. Now I know I'm buying that book -- you with this scarf this year ... I think Wendy Knits made something at this time from the book last year ... I'm feeling the need to add to my book stash!! And, of course, more yarn will be needed "just in case". I found the CRAFT magazine you shared from recently -- only the premiere issue at our store, but still interesting. And your boys are WAY wonderful - thank God knitted hats continue to fit for more than one year!! Peace!

That looks positively scrumptious, but in a very manly way!

Best,

Hmm, I like this pattern in the smaller gauge. Very nice. But now I'm starting to second guess if my Inspiration Scarf is manly enough.
