may your nose be merry and warm
and may all your itty bitty hats be cherry-topped

I spent the night before Christmas Eve braiding ties (wow, that took a long time!) so Santa could put the nosewarmers under the tree for Christmas morning.

or try this link for Real Media version or this link for Quick Time version)

And I even got a little something knitty for Christmas! Hubby (with the help of knitbuddy, Dani) got me the Itty-Bitty Hats book (something I've picked up and considered buying for myself a dozen times) along with yarn to make the little striped cherry-o hat. So I did.

I started it while playing board games with the boys (which I can do virtually hands free, 'cause when we're playing Mousetrap the boys always want to do all the building, plus they like to move the all pieces themselves, and S built a lego die roller with his Christmas legos that spits the die out of it's mouth to roll it!). And then I relaxed in the evening (with a very excited wee one in my belly) by finishing off hat and cherries.

Hope your holiday was merry!

I believe the nosewarmer photo is a classic, one that you will reach for again and again during the next 30 or so years... fabulous.

It sounds like a great holiday. And what a cute hat! Your husband gets points for knitty gifting.

Very cool Lego die roller! My kids got some Lego for Christmas, too. The Spongebob sets I ordered have been shipped but didn't come in time. Luckily they both have birthdays in a few weeks (January 7 and 14). They got new board games, too, which I have been playing quite a bit and not really getting time to use my new toy -- a wool winder!

Glad you had a nice Christmas -- have a Happy New Year!

cute! Maybe you need one of those handy i-cord thingies that spits out a mile a minute of cord.

What an adorable hat! Truly, your little girl is going to have the BEST wee covered head in town!

I love those type of board games... my boys just got a Scene-It game which totally allows for knitting along. Then there's Risk with my older boys... which takes for-ev-er... so I can easily knit while waiting my turn.

Enjoy!

Oh wow, those monkey pajamas are insanely cute. The cherry hat is great too.

Love the hat, the nosewarmers, the book, and the boys' Paul Frank PJs! Liked the video, too!

Sock monkey pjs -- classic! And I love the wee cherry hat. No wonder the wee one in the belly is so excited -- she can't wait to wear all the wonderful goodies you have knitted for her!

I was hoping you'd show us the nose warmers being modeled by the cutest little guys! Thanks for the smile :)

OMGoodness that photo is toooo cute.

You should use that for xmas cards next year.

What a classic! And I love, love, love the cherry-o hat.

Do you think the boys will laugh at the photo when they are older. I am sure they will. How cute! Love your hat too, just gorgeous.

Great picture it really is something you and the boys will cherish years from now. How did your sock monsters come out

Too cute!!!! And I love the boys' monkey jammies.

Love the nose warmers!!

Noah was gifted with almost more Lego joy than an 8 year old can stand!! He's already built his Aquaraider, exoforcer and gone through the first few versions of his MINDSTORM robot building (this was an amazingly generous gift from his uncle and he has been having a ball!)

Too cute!

Wow - that is some seriously advanced lego engineering right there! Very cool. Love that cherry hat and those great nosewarmers (vey practical on a freezing day like today). Hope you are having a lovely holiday week! Frohe Weinachten auf den ganze Familie (aber ein bisschen spat - tut mir leid!) ~gabriella

Way cute!
Looks like there's room-to-grow built into those nose warmers, too.

DD is planning to make hats that turn one's head into plum pudding. I like your Cherry hat.

I love your patterns...I found your pattern for the dbl knit ski cap.....I am dying to make this but am a bit confused....

When I join the round....how do I work the 2nd row without turning the work? Do I use 2 circs in order to do this.....any help you can give would be appreciated....

Happy New Year...Diane

How cute are those boys!!! Too cute. Love the nose warmers. :)

I *so* want that hat book. It looks adorable. How well do you like it? Are there a lot of good patterns or just a couple?

Posted by: Samantha at December 28, 2006 12:21 PM

Diane, once you have joined to work in the round then you never have to turn (in fact even in the set up rows, you didn't turn). When you finish the first round and are back at the beginning of the round, you can switch yarns and work the next round according to Row 2 instructions. Got it?

Samantha, I love the book! I'm working on a second hat from it already and have at least four others picked out to make. There are a lot of good patterns in there, not just a couple. If you like little hats, you'll find a bunch in there to make!

Was that a quick-knit or are you just super crafty? I love the cherry hat! Are the other patterns as adorable?

Very Kewl.

Hi Alison!
I have visited your blog before, so when I checked in I was so happy to see you had knitted from Itty-Bitty! I love your cherry-o. It turned out great.

You have beautiful boys. I started out with 2 boys and when I had my first girl I could not stop knitting for her. It's all too much fun.

Happy New Year!
best, susan

Oh my goodness, it's the itty bitty hats lady herself! Wow, thanks so much for stopping by the blog and saying hi.

I love your book and have at least five more hats planned from it. (And if I have to go on bedrest or anything like that, I am so going to make that rosebud wreath hat!)

And can I just say that while I was ooohing and aaahing over all the hats in the book, I had to stop and ask, hey, who wrote this book anyway, and I was so pleased to see that it was a new name. Nothing against Zoe Mellor and Debbie Bliss and the like (love them! have all their books!) but this book was just so different and cool that I knew it had to be some new baby knitting genius at work.

Thanks for the awesome designs! They really an inspiration. :)
