surprise!

This weekend, my best knitbuddies threw me a huge surprise baby shower.

I was shocked when I walked in and saw all my knitting pals and over a dozen pairs of knitted booties strung across the room like streamers!

So many different booties in different styles and sizes - wee one's feet will be quite literally covered!

There were other knit gifties too, like this gorgeous Baby Kid shawl (that I've been dying to make for myself - now I don't have to!) and the giant "Cheeky Monkey" toy from Zoe Mellor's Knitted Toys (both of which were knitted by the amazingly talented and generous Dani).

There was a cute and classy baby shrug and bonnet set for wee one (knit by Shannon) and enough books for me to keep her in cute and classy knitted items for a while!

Even the boys got the perfect gifts...

And thank goodness for the clean-up crew S loves pink!

Lovely gifts! Neat idea for the booties streamers. It's nice when the older siblings get things, too. When I had my second one some friends made sure the sent the older one a little something, too. Helped cut down on jealousy.

So sweet, your lucky to have such wonderful, thoughtful friends. (But you're wonderful and thoughtful to them ... what goes around, comes around). Love all that they did, but especially love the boys "Big brother t-shirts".

What an amazing bounty of knitted goods! There will need to be multiple bootie changes a day! You make me want to join a knitting group again - not have a baby, I had one and now he is a toddler - oy!

so sweet :) Looks like you had a great time! What a blessing friends are :D

How great is that - knitters knitting for another knitter. The baby shrug is gorgeous - I love the colors. I've started really liking brown for babies, especially combined with pink or blue.

Posted by: Donna at January 16, 2007 3:22 PM

The booties are great, such a variety, you'll have to post and let us know which ones stay on and which don't!! The shrug is so good, I've been thinking about making one for my baby due in May - after seeing it I am inspired!!

How sweet of them. We just had a girl at our shop have a baby. I made a delicious cashmere bonnet, and cheated and found a knit Mermaid at a local boutique. We've been picking it over trying to rewrite the pattern. I love your blog, and especially love all the fun projects you do with your boys.

Keep up the good work,

Danielle

Am planning to be at KS on Sunday with yep, just what you need now --- ONE MORE PAIR of booties that never got to the string -- and a little sumptin else.... xo Thea

Posted by: Jane in London at January 17, 2007 7:30 AM

those are very good friends.
I wish they would do baby showers here in Israel, not that anyone would throw me one…but still…Israel is too damn superstitious, you can't do anything till baby is born.
Gil likes pink also, the other day he wanted pink socks, I acctualy said, pink is for girls not boys...he disagreed...I hope I did the right thing by him, but I can't start buying him pink socks...problem is, we have very little to choose from for boys. It's all grey, black, green or navy.

That's awesome! You are going to LOVE those Lucinda Guy books...they have such cute patterns in them!
