The stash is now finally at home in wee one's room! What an undertaking it is to move your whole stash. I had to put everything on the bed for a day while the storage unit was moved down to its new spot.
Yikes! It seemed like I'd never get it all put away, but little by little, I got it all back in the cubbyholes. Then I could finally hang up all the sweet little booties my knitting pals made for wee one.
Now I feel like her room is finally finished and ready for her.

oh oh oh, I love those booties so sweet! The move sounds like it was a lot of hard work, I hope you put your feet up afterwards?
It looks great! I love those little booties! Too cute! And the way you have displayed them is adorable. :)
I want a room like that, too.
Oh those booties are just too cute!
Yes, the bootie display is awesome. I like the ones that look like little shoes and socks -- two pairs, actually! Or maybe those ARE booties and socks? Anyway, the stash looks great.
That is such a cute way to display the booties! They'll always be right at hand.
That is adorable! Wee one is going to want to knit before she can walk, after sleeping among all that lovely yarn. I have to ask where you got that amazing storage unit? Because my stash is currently hiding in cardboard boxes...
I like the basket of sock yarn on top, the best. :-)
Very cute area - I like how it's all colorful and decorated.
The stash actually looks very well on the room, like cute decoration! What are you going to do when she needs the space for herself?
It looks like a yarn store! I love the glass front storage and the bootie parade. I completely feel for your pain as I was doing a major stash reorganization myself. I had an idea for some spoof photos of putting my stash in a shopping cart, bathtub, and finally convertible mini, seeing which it would fill. They were great fun (you can check out my blog) but putting it all away, back in bags and baskets after EVERYTHING was pell mell - it was a lot of work. Mine does not look anywhere near as lovely as yours. That little girl will have yarn on the brain from the minute she enters the world!
Looks great! and tidy too.
It's looks so cute! I like that cabinet a lot.
I think her first words are going to be something like, "One more skein," or "time to block..."
I'm having organizing envy!
Alison:
I love your choices for the baby's room and I am very excited for you about the upcoming book!!! I am stuck on a project and looking for advice from you or other knitters. I am knitting a short version of the Einstein sweater in stash yarn. It is alternating blocks of black and Lambs Pride Lotus Pink. I have antique wooden buttons that are black and white.I am trying to decide if the sleeves should be pink and black stripes or black and white stripes. (a friend recommends one of each!!)
This decision should not keep a grown woman awake nights, but it is!
This beginner would appreciate some feedback!!!
Thanks
Mary Kate Witry
Awww....love the booties, how sweet! Can't wait for your wee one to come ;)
No, her first words will be, "just let me finish this row!"
Talk about a happy room! Your new baby AND your stash? Heaven! I can just picture you rocking her while gazing at your stash, (and gazing at her, too, of course!). ;-)
I think I need some storage units like those, although I'd like them taller.... Time to start trolling Ikea's website....
I love the bootie display -- so charming and functional at the same time. And how fortunate for the Wee One, to be surrounded by so much happy yarn!
Haha, it looks like a mini yarn store! So cute!
Awwwwww!!! So precious! And bright and pretty! The booties - too adorable. Everything is so sweet and snuggly and delicious. A baby's room is a wonderful place to be, huh?
I'd love to see and know more about that storage cabinet! Is it something we can get at Ikea/PotteryBarn/Target/etc or just have to admire on your blog?
Precious display! I'm like Laura, love the storage cabinet, but more so, the miniature dress form.
Your baby should love her bright, colorful cheery room!
i agree with laura and sylvia, where did you get that storage unit? my statsh needs a home and that is perfect! love it!
So pretty! I love the little cubby organizer...
Did you post what pattern any of those booties are from? I gotta check... love those little shoe ones in particular!
Those baby booties are just too cute! I especially like the red and white striped "mary janes". How adorable! I envy your stash, by the way!
Did you ever knit the other boot? And if so, did you ever wear them?
Your booties are so precious! Girls are so much fun. Where'd you get the pattern for the genius Mary Janes? Do they make them in adult size? :)
Talk about nesting! This is amazing.
The mary-jane booties are so fabulous! Any idea who has the pattern and can I get it at the next Knitsmiths meeting??
She's bound to become a knitter with all that inspiration in her room.
Beautiful! I love yarn as art. And those booties...could anything be cuter? Wait, betting the soon to be bootie wearer will be even cuter than the wee knitted footwear :-)
Alison, I was wondering how many stitches you cast on and what needle size you used for Dani's Gryffindor striping socks. Thanks!
It looks darling! I'm not sure you could have found cuter decorations. Of course, I am completely biased...
It looks so adorable! I especially love the booties hanging there =)
I love all of the booties hanging up, so cute. I also love your stash cabinet too, what a lot of yarn to knit up. Lucky you.
The stash looks awesome and the mary janes are just the cutest. I need to know the pattern.
Those drawers are great! At first, I'm thinking, well, her stash isn't so huge. Then I saw it all laid out on the bed, and the dresser is deceptive! And I can't believe all the gorgeous little booties you have to put on the wee one. I'm so jealous. She will be the best-dressed baby out there!
Ooh, I'm so jealous of your beautiful stash. Mine won't even fill a twin size bed.
The little knitted doll you made looks just right up on her shelf, waiting.
Adorable! And I love the cabinet, too.
love it!!! mind you when she starts to crawl and reach you might want to think about taking it elsewhere...
Alison,
I love your baby's room with all the handknits on display. What a lucky baby!
I've been meaning to ask you. How much knitting have you done for your new little one? I knit two pairs of socks and a hat for my DS before my hands swelled so much I wasnt able to knit. I plan on starting earlier with this one (once I find out the gender).
What a gorgeous room - the booties are lovely!
You are making me nostalgic as my little girl (baby of our family of 2B & 1G) is a big 3.5yo . We couldn't get a clear view at our scan so were hoping for a girl but kind of expecting a boy and then the midwife and my hubby forgot to tell me what sex the baby was when she did arrive. She was a lovely surprise.
Looking forward to your book (which I have pre-ordered), and a knit-along.
EnnaVic (in New Zealand)
That is the most adorable set up I've ever seen. And your stash...I have no words!
The booties are adorable, and the windows into your stash are a very colorful decoration for the baby's room.
A room full of stash is such a warm and inviting concept!
That looks absolutely fantastic! The wee one will have oodles of "eye candy" to glance at when she is old enough to focus on your yarn stash. She'll probably start dreaming about what she wants to knit before she's even a year old, hahaha! Don't you just love yarn......
Thanks everyone! I hope you're right that wee one will enjoy sharing her room with my stash. It should be colorful and pretty at least. And I hope it engenders an early love of fiber and knitting and not merely resentment for my having taken up half of her room with my crap! ;0)
The storage system, by the way, was from Ikea. It was from a few years ago and was discontinued minutes after I bought it. In fact, I went back like two weeks after I bought it to buy another set and they were already all gone. :0(
Lovely! I really like the cabinet, so sad to hear that it was discontinued. IKEA does that to me, too.
i love how neatly you have stored your stash! it is the kind of thing that you'd just spend hours opening and closing the drawers. oogling for hours.
Brilliant storage system!
Look at how adorable those booties are.
Your wee one is coming in to this world loved by her family and surrounded by fibrey goodness.
What more could one ask?
