With baby L in the sling, I managed to finish the waistband on the baby bell bottoms. She gave me just enough time to sew things up and weave in the ends.
I am so pleased with how these came out. The garter stitch bell bottoms are girly without being too frilly or twee. The pink is sweet without giving you tooth decay. And the Knitpicks Shine Sport was a delight to work with (I still can't believe that the yarn for the entire project was only $5!).

baby legs
My goodness those "britches" are so so cute and the little lady is precious as pie!
She is so sweet. I love the pants. :)
The bell bottoms are adorable - and just the right amount of sweet.
Ow, my uterus is aching! Beautiful baby and really cute pants.
Now the question is, do I make another baby of my own to make pants for, or do I make pants for someone else's baby?
Aww, look how cute she is in her equally cute new pants!
Baby L is just so so cute & those beautiful long fingers! The pants look great. I have knit longies for my middle grandchild & plan on knitting some for darling granddaughter too. [If you are unfamiliar with them, longies are wool pants used as soakers for cloth diapered babies.} The one I made for DGS were in organic Treliske in the natural brown tweed color - perfect for a brown eyed, brown haired male toddler. I think knitting small pants is addictive. They just look so cute when worn.
Those are so cute! One of the nice things about the knitted pants, is if they are roomy enough in the seat, you can extend the legs with more garter stitch. They are darling, as is she.
She is such a beautiful little lady! The pants are super sweet. I CANNOT believe that you can get anything done with a newbie and your sons...aren't your eyes burning from the all night feeding fests????? You put me to shame I tell you!
I have some Shine sitting in a corner begging to be something as cute as this. Thank you!
Those are wonderful. I have multiple colors of Shine that will make great stripey pants.
I am going to make a denim colored pair for my soon to be born nephew. I sish I had learned to knit before my wee ones were school age!!
I can't wait until I have a baby to make pants for! I have to wait until after September 22nd of this year first, that's when G and I will be getting married. Baby L is so adorable. Think you might could cook up a boy's pattern of those pants?
Hi!
Absolutely adorable, baby and baby pants, both!
I am curious to hear how well the Shine Sport endures multiple wash-n-dries, as the website hints it will. Any stretching, etc? I will keep an eye out for my own project with this yarn (no babies, alas).
Love visiting with you and the kids--thank you for your blogging efforts!
Those are so sweet! And so pink! Way to make me think about a third baby before I even have my second...
sooo cute I could die from it!!
ooh, beautiful. I want to make some!
Ahhh! Thank you SO MUCH for providing the pattern for these! I want to make a pair for my 2 month old posthaste!!
Wow, they pants are beautiful, and I can sure see how she is growing and changing. Great Job!
Oh my WORD - those are the cutest pants EVER! Thank you so much for sharing your pattern!
Argh! Too! Freaking! Cute!
When is this barrage of unbelievable preciousness going to let up? Because all these adorable pictures are turning me into mush.
Those are fabulous! Too bad my "baby" turns 16 tomorrow!
Ohhhhh, the pants are cute and all, but that sweet little baby. My youngest is only 6 months old and I already forgot that itty bitty cuteness that newborns are!
Hmmmm, but what level of multi-tasker are you!?! Seaming while holding baby while taking a photo!?! Or did you have a cameraman?
How very cute! You are quite generous to share the pattern with everyone.
Awesome pants - I wonder if I can whip some up to go with my Pea Pod sweaters? I could even change the bottom garter to the pea pod edging...dangerous thoughts. I am loving the KP shine sport!
AWWWW!!!! Cute baby and cute pants!!!!! Love the pink!
Can you size a set of those for me? No? Hmm... Maybe my 8 year old? (Just kidding, though I might actually try something similar for her.) The pants are awesome, and the baby even more so; my goodness, I'd forgotten just how cute they can be!
I LUV those little pants. I think I will be making a pair. Thanks for posting the pattern.
How cute (both pants and child)! Thanks for the great pattern -- I'm going to knit these up for my new 2-week old niece, probably in Rowan's Calmer. Thanks again!
You have a sling!! Super! I LOVE the pants! Now to see if I can figure out how to make them bigger for my little T who is 9 months now.
I just LOVE those pants. . . . any chance on getting REALLY bigger sizes. As in, dare I say, ADULT sizes??? How cool would those be for lounging around the house?
C'mon, you know you want a pair too!
Cute little pants! You make the cutest patterns for your little girl!
Knitted baby bell bottoms, oh thank you Alison! Time to spread the love.
Aww, how adorable. I love the conked out baby face in the foreground with knitting in the background. That is definitely the story of my life for the last 7 mos! You pants look so sweet. I love the bell idea!
Those are so cute! As is the model! :)
Thank you for posting the pattern! I have to make a few of these for some upcoming gifts, perfect timing and I have a good little stash of the KP shine!! :)
I see a fashion career ahead for this little one! The pants are just adorable, as is the model!
She's a gorgeous and those pants look beautiful. Well done you.
oh man... i miss carrying my son in a sling! she's perfect, and so are her pants :)
Oh, man, I wish I could sleep like that. She looks sooooo relaxed. Very sweet pants - good job.
How cute is your baby!!! She is a very good knitwear model. :)
So precious - Wee One and her pants!!
Adorable!! When my daughter was born last summer I enjoyed knitting while she was in the sling.
Oh I am so excited about these pants! I have an extra ball of the Shine from a dress that I made and I am SO ready to dive right in and knit these babies up! Thanks for posting the pattern!!!
I love how they're slightly stylishly flared...I have a friend's baby who is due soon and I've been trying to figure out what to knit her. Now I know! :)
Oh come on! Those are adorable!! I would love to make a pair for my daughter, but she's turning 2 next week. I hope the pattern will go up that large...? eventually? or maybe I'll just go with the biggest size and knit them longer. :)
oh i can't wait to make a pair of these
Those are the most adorable pants! I enjoy reading your blog regularly and have recently created my own. I'm excited to attempt your pattern to make a set for my god-daughter. She's 6 months old, so I'm afraid I'll have to wait for a larger size.
Congratulations on the wee one! She is adorable!
I've followed your blog for about a year now, and I enjoyed the wait for Wee One. She's precious. The boys are so cute and are about the same age as my grandsons who were born 17 days apart. Wishing all the best to you and your family.
The pants are adorable but the baby is a real beauty.
Oooh, they are adorable! I love them! Thanks so much for providing the pattern. I can't wait to make them!
sooo sweet. bless you for sharing your pattern. i'm starting a pair right now!!! thank you for your inspiration!
She is so beautiful Alison! And the pants are adorable. I'm adding those to my list of baby items to make.
OMG the expression on her face is priceless.
Thanks for posting the pattern. I think i'll make these for my collegue who's due late July with a girl.
Oh my goodness!! I can't wait to figure out who gets these pants. They are perfect. Wish my two year old could wear them.
I'm casting on tonight! Any suggestions on yarn substitutions anyone?
Omg she's sooo cuddly cute and the pants are just as sweet. Congrats. Now only if I can figure out the pattern for my 15 mo. old daughter whose size is 9 mos. :)
Those are absolutely cute! And she totally make them work. ;-)
Oh so cute! Thanks for posting the pattern.
Both L and pants are too cute for words :-) I just might have to make a pair for my own bump!
Hi Allison,
Baby L looks so comfy in her new Mommy-designed Knitpicks Shine Pants! How Hip is she? Already starting in Bell Bottoms!
I ordered my yarn yesterday: Blush, Coral and Green Apple. Can't wait to get started. My grandbaby girl is due in late June. These will be just right in the early fall! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us. You are generous.
