matchy matchy!

Hello Sockapaloozers! I know we got blogger problems (I've contacted them and am hoping they can help us). I know we don't have a full participant list yet (update: yes we do!). But still, the knitting must go on, right? Are you ready for matches?!

Before you do anything, remember, do not tell your pal who you are! It should be a SECRET only to be revealed when you send the socks out in August. If you contact them to ask a question, be sure you are using an anonymous email account that does NOT have your name in it anywhere (beware, if you entered your name when you signed up for the email account, sometimes it will appear in the "from" line of the email!). If you leave a comment on their blog, be sure you are using a fake name (beware, if you've commented on their blog before, it may "remember" you, so type in a new name and email address!) Okay, everyone got it? Secret. Hush, hush. No telling.

Go to the database and request your pal's info!
(UPDATE: database is working again and you should receive all info for your pal!)

You'll be able to access this info throughout sockapalooza in case you forget it. You should be notified if your pal changes their address, but still it'd be a good idea to check it shortly before you send the socks out in August. (Very important note: We're all sending out socks in August! This isn't a race. We want all the socks to be sailing around the world and arriving at about the same time. If you have an international pal, you might want to send a few days earlier depending on shipping times, but otherwise, AUGUST, 'kay?!)

Okay, wee one says "sockapalooza on"!

(If you signed up to knit an extra pair of socks for someone forgotten in the last round, you should be sent some details about a second pal to knit for this week. Thank you very much!)

This is so exciting! I now can go shopping for sock yarn!

Posted by: Stacie at April 30, 2007 10:08 AM

'kay! Whew, you just had me for a moment when I "found out" that my pal didn't have a blog... not even an email-address! Can't wait to get that so I can start looking for yarn.

She is so adorable to be a proud promoter! That's a great system you have for sockapalooza. I can't wait!

WoW!! i was very excited to find other knitters in the Boston area and have been reading your weblog for about a month now...quietly lurking! The Sockapalooza thing is a great idea, when i learn to knit socks I'll join in the next round! Wee One is adorable and quite the promoter! Congrats on the book too btw!

Posted by: Jennifer at April 30, 2007 11:20 AM

I love that onesie! I may have enough of my funky monkey print left to make one for Pete...

Posted by: Brynne at April 30, 2007 11:30 AM

YESSSSSSSSSS! I've been so anxious to find out my pal! Thanks for working so hard on this especially with your hands so full! She's already getting so big, what a cutie!!

Posted by: Diane at April 30, 2007 12:06 PM

Awwwww - little one is soooooo cute with her big blue eyes, slight smile & chubby cheeks - not to mention her great onesie.

Posted by: Donna at April 30, 2007 12:13 PM

Master webmaster's wife here -- I just let him know that there appears to be something wonky with the requests for sock pal info (I didn't get mine either), and he's going to look into it once he escapes from a work meeting. I'll update as I know more!

Posted by: Shannon at April 30, 2007 12:14 PM

Yeah, I couldn't get mine either!

Posted by: Lori at April 30, 2007 12:15 PM

Ahh, too cute, too cute. I'm being overloaded on cuteness. Love the soft baby hands and smooshable cheeks! Give her a kiss for us.

Posted by: LaurieM at April 30, 2007 12:16 PM

I was just thinking, how cool would it be if all 1006 people were to use their left over sock yarn from their pal socks and knitted up a sock or pair (depending on how much was left) for Wee one? hahahaha, I can just see her room being overrun by socks!

Posted by: Monique at April 30, 2007 1:46 PM

AHHH!!! Wee One isn't so WEE! Such a pretty girl!! hehe Okay, did you say something about matches? Can't take my eyes off the beautiful baby! :)

Posted by: Laura at April 30, 2007 2:00 PM

I can't wait to get started knitting some socks! I am soooo excited!

Wee one is adorable in her Sockapalooza t-shirt!

Posted by: Minneapolismama at April 30, 2007 2:25 PM

Alison,

You were the subject of our SNB the other week in Berkeley, CA. I brought my little wee one, and stuck her in the sling when she began to get fussy. Someone mentioned seeing your baby in a sling on your blog, and I laughed and said, yes, I too am a fan. Even better, I put a little bag on my arm, took my latest WIP in hand and began knitting. What a wonderful idea you gave us!

Posted by: Alison at April 30, 2007 3:39 PM

Thank you for my sock pal Alison! She sounds perfect. :)

Posted by: TraciSue at April 30, 2007 4:31 PM

I got my pal's info just fine but can no longer see a link to check out my own info. Thanks!

Posted by: Knitopia at April 30, 2007 4:46 PM

Hooray for sockapalooza matches! And wee one is so adorable!

Posted by: Jennifer at April 30, 2007 4:52 PM

Looks like daytime and she isn't screaming - woohoo!

Posted by: Helen at April 30, 2007 5:10 PM

Hi, I can't seem to get my pal's info because I think I entered the wrong email address when I signed up. Can't even get in to edit my personal info. Can you help me, please? Sorry to bother you with this.

Posted by: Susan Johnson at April 30, 2007 8:36 PM

I can't seem to get my pal's info either (I've tried 3 or 4 times today) and I know I'm using the correct email address. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

Posted by: Kari at April 30, 2007 10:18 PM

I am having the same problem as Kari, to be safe, I copied and pasted the "to" address on my invite to the sockapalooza blog. It keeps telling me that my address isn't in the database (both when I try to retrieve pal info, and if I tried to edit my info).

I know you are swamped, thanks so much for all the effort you put in!!

Posted by: whichy at April 30, 2007 11:15 PM

I checked back and was able to edit my own info. Thanks!

Hi Alison:

I received my copy of Charmed Knits yesterday. I had ordered this book for my SP10 pal - I know it is hard to believe but I am not a Harry Potter fan and didn't think the book would be something I would be interested in. I love the book - I saw several items that I myself would love to make. Congratulations on your book.

Karen

I just found your blog today and I am so impressed. Love the baby bell bottom pink pants pattern and have linked to it from my website.

Those would keep so many babies in need nice and toasty warm!
Have a lovely day!!!

I found this just too late to sign up for sockapalooooza - darn!

It sounds like SUCH fun; I hope everyone enjoys!

Posted by: Connie at May 1, 2007 10:58 AM

all this techy techy stuff is just WAY cool. how neat that we can just go to the database and take care of it ourselves! i suppose that's a big load off a new mommy's (again, of course) shoulders, hah.

That picture of baby L is ADORABLE! :)

Posted by: Ali at May 1, 2007 1:19 PM

Hi Alison,
I'm having a problem posting on the sockapalooza web page. Is there a secret handshake or something I didn't learn yet?
Blessings.

Posted by: Angi at May 1, 2007 1:44 PM

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Go snuggle with your wee one who needs attention after all this Sockapalooza work!

Posted by: gail at May 1, 2007 1:55 PM

Gasp! She is SO cute!

Posted by: Amber at May 1, 2007 2:58 PM

Thanks for all that work! The socks are underway!! BTW - that onesie is too cute for words.

Posted by: Carol at May 1, 2007 4:03 PM

Yay for getting the pal info out! (And where do we get tees like wee one? ;) )

Posted by: Andrea at May 1, 2007 4:35 PM

You have really outdone yourself on the organization of this swap. It's fun to see how many new people have joined up this time. I love our "mascot" for this round;)

Posted by: deb at May 1, 2007 5:12 PM

I still have not received my sock pal info. I requested it a few times yesterday and three time today. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Posted by: Kari at May 1, 2007 5:49 PM

Andrea, the onesie was a baby gift that was bought from a seller at etsy.com. If you go to etsy.com, you can search for "sock monkey" or "funky monkey" and find lots of products made with that fabric.

And now you've reminded me to go and see what else is out there now with those monkeys on it! ;0)

Posted by: ALISON at May 1, 2007 6:37 PM

Please, please, please tell me where that onesie came from. Oh! Now I see the comment above. Gotcha. Off to search!
