baby totoro

It turns out I am not skilled enough to do the single crochet that the hello yarns anime hat pattern calls for for the eyes. But I do know how to cut out pieces of felt and sew them onto a hat. So there you have it, felt eyes. I'd be ashamed of myself if it hadn't come out so adorably cute!

Now for the gushing. I loved this pattern! I loved that it was top-down (cool way to do a hat). I loved the ears (they're so cleverly made and are the perfect addition). I love the little face (so funny and quirky - just like the big Totoro). And then there's this...

Posted by: Anne at May 9, 2007 10:16 AM

Hat is adorable, but nothing beats the cuteness of that baby!

:O what a cute hat!! I LOVE Totoro! Now that song will be stuck in my head all day....... :)

Posted by: Karen at May 9, 2007 12:09 PM

I love top-down hats. Unfortunately, not a lot of hat patterns are written that way.

Wee one looks WAY cute in that hat!

I bought "My Neighbor Totoro" as a mother's day gift for myself. The gentle innocence of that movie really speaks to me. Your hat captures the mood perfectly and it is just adorable on your beautiful girl. Happy happy....

Posted by: LaurieM at May 9, 2007 12:28 PM

Now I will be singing the Totoro music all day long! It's a great hat and an even greater baby (cuter too).

Posted by: Seanna Lea at May 9, 2007 2:00 PM

Awww!

Posted by: Nadia Lewis at May 9, 2007 2:04 PM

She is so adorable and the hat is cute too!

I got and read your book last night! Most enjoyable. Now, the only question is, can I get Molly's coat done by July? (I could be Molly's sister...so it is a must for me!)

That is the first project, then Harry's red sweater for my son, and probably a few quidditch sweaters and socks, and Hermione's hat and mittens for second daughter.

I love, love, LOVE My Neighbor Totoro and what a sweet hat. That expression - what a knitwear model!

Posted by: Sonya at May 9, 2007 3:28 PM

UPS just delivered my copy of your book - and I'm about 5th in line to look at it. My kids grabbed it first and are busy choosing what I am to knit for them. From what little I can see over their shoulders it looks exciting!

Posted by: Laura at May 9, 2007 4:46 PM

Aaah, how cute is that!?

Posted by: Asaknitter at May 9, 2007 5:57 PM

Baby and Totoro...very cute combination. :)

Posted by: Sarah at May 9, 2007 8:51 PM

Cute overload! I'm having cute induced palpitations!

Posted by: alisonmc at May 9, 2007 9:51 PM

Such a gorgeous girl. I love the hat, and I have to say that my crochet skills are not that good either, and the felt looks fantastic for eyes anyway.

Posted by: Sue at May 9, 2007 10:37 PM

Cute hat and cuter baby! I have to say, as a non-sockapalozer, I'm very happy with the knit pligg. It will be so much easier and fun to be a sock watcher this round.

Posted by: Laura at May 9, 2007 10:56 PM

too cute. what an expression. Just love it all.

Posted by: Orli at May 10, 2007 12:05 AM

So adorable! Looks just like a 'lil Totoro...I love that anime! :)

Posted by: Ruinwen at May 10, 2007 5:34 AM

I have finished my first. Normally it bored me to knit for babies, but miracle of miracles, this pattern was what i needed to get me started. I even made a little softie to join the cute little hat. Just for the baby's enjoyment. The only change was that I made round ears instead. Looks so cute anyway :)

Posted by: Pilar at May 10, 2007 5:41 AM

Baby L looks so much like her brothers! Such a sweet face and darling hat! Ears on a hat always make me oooh and awwww.

Posted by: Katherine at May 10, 2007 9:11 AM

Well, you just can't help smiling at those pictures!

Posted by: Songbird at May 10, 2007 9:15 AM

Did you see your mention in the Wall Street Journal today? It's part of an article about Harry Potter related books. Yours is in the sidebar box on the last page.

Posted by: Patience at May 10, 2007 1:38 PM

Beware cheek squeezers when she wears that hat! It's too irresistible!

Posted by: dava at May 10, 2007 6:20 PM
