preventing soxual harrasment

We're two weeks past the sockapalooza deadline, 75% of you have reported finishing your socks and 50% of you have reported receiving your socks! But the emails are starting to come in with forgotten pals wondering where their socks are and other pals wondering if the socks they sent have arrived. So if you don't want to be getting emails from me asking where your socks are, remember to update the database and get in contact with your pal. Let them know if you're running late; let them know that you got your socks.

And now it's my turn to let my pal know that I received my socks and LOVED them!!

My pal, Jen of Monkeyknits spoiled me good! She sent an anonymous email early on asking me some questions and I mentioned some pink socks I'd seen with picot edge and little ribbon ties that were the sort of style and color I liked. And she made me exactly those socks!

They are so pretty in pink Koigu. And check out the inside of those picot cuffs! Love it!

Now, I have some pretty boring sock preferences and am not the most exciting pal to knit for. I mentioned to my pal that I was afraid of variegated yarns, especially when they're not in my standard fave colors, and afraid of textured patterns, especially of lace socks which I suspect of being too chilly. So Jen decided to make me a second pair of socks to help me get over my fears. I think these gorgeous Monkeys may just convince me!

The yarn is the new Socks that Rocks Silkie. The colors are lovely and they are so comfy. And the monkey pattern, well, it's the monkey pattern, it rocks!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jen! (And thanks too from the boys who are having a blast with their little treat too!)

And finally, our July finisher winner - see it pays to update the database! - is Jennie L of jennie's blog in Sweden. Congrats Jennie, I'll be sending you a gift certificate for a sockapalooza bag from fellow sockapalooza, Allena!

Okay everyone, finish those socks and update the database or you'll be hearing from me. I'll be signing people up for sock saviors when I don't hear back from their pals, so for all of you excited to knit another pair of socks, check the database in the next week or two to sign up as a sock savior. Thanks!!

I love variegated Monkey socks and those look great. The pink ones are just beautiful, too.

I wonder if you know what's going on with the Charmed Knits KAL. I've tried to join twice to no avail. My 9 yo wants to show off her Hedwig :-).

Whoa, those turned out gorgeous, both of them, but I really, REALLY love the green rim inside the pink socks!!! So cute!!

I'm so happy you received such gorgeous socks!!!
Wow!
Both are so amazing and lovely.

Those pink socks look like they are knit on -1 needles.

How pretty and victiorian.

Oooh, pretty socks. What a great pal!

Posted by: earthchick at August 21, 2007 11:15 AM

Wonderful socks! You are one lucky gal.

I tried to log into the database to check my info and to volunteer to be a sock savior and even though I received the invitation links in my gmail account neither invite would let me log in. I'll try again later, but could there be a problem out there?? Then again it could be on my end. We've already lost power twice since early this morning with the storms coming through New Jersey...

Posted by: alotta.knittin at August 21, 2007 11:39 AM

As I also signed up fro sock savior, I'll probably be knitting a pair for myself :-) Havn't receiverd or heard anything yet. Bummer :(

Wow you are so lucky to get 2 pairs of gorgeous socks!

Posted by: Oiyi at August 21, 2007 12:01 PM

I adore those pink socks! They look so cozy and sweet. I might have to make a pair for myself.

Posted by: Katie at August 21, 2007 12:17 PM

They are really beautiful, I like most the pink socks, which are very cozy and female, the monkey socks are beautiful as well.

Posted by: Iris ine at August 21, 2007 12:54 PM

Wow, your pal did a great job on those socks! I especially love the bit of green on the inside of the picot cuff!

My pal e-mailed me at the beginning of August (1st or 2nd) saying that she had just mailed my socks. I still haven't gotten them, but I do know that she lives far away, so hopefully that's the only reason why they're taking awhile. I hope they come soon!

Posted by: Jennifer at August 21, 2007 1:38 PM

WOW! Those are some gorgeous socks! What a wonderful sock pal! (Also, I have to say, I loved the pun in the title. Too funny!)

Posted by: Maritza at August 21, 2007 1:41 PM

Love your socks! Count me in as one that did not rec'v socks from her pal... I never even HEARD from her. At least my pal loved the socks I made her tho.

Posted by: Heather at August 21, 2007 2:26 PM

Lucky you!! You deserve 2 pair after all your hard work. Can't wait to see you wearing those Monkeys!

Posted by: Carol at August 21, 2007 2:53 PM

Those pink socks are the cutest thing ever!

Posted by: julie perkins at August 21, 2007 3:28 PM

Those are beautiful? Should we be telling you if we haven't received socks? Or is not updating the database enough?

Posted by: Jenny at August 21, 2007 3:32 PM

ahh, such lovely Monkeys! You will so enjoy the Silkie. I am so jealous of those who can avoid the pooling with their STR. I love my monkeys too, but my STR color effect was not as precise: http://valleygrrl.typepad.com/knitting/2007/02/the_socks_that_.html

Posted by: Juls at August 21, 2007 4:16 PM

Oh those pink ones are gorgeous!
And it's true, Monkeys are the new Jaywalkers.

Posted by: Sarah at August 21, 2007 4:34 PM

Those pink socks are so girly & pretty but the Monkeys are fantastic - that STR yarn is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Posted by: Donna at August 21, 2007 5:09 PM

Those are lovely socks! I dig that little hidden bit of color- how fun! And the monkeys are great too!

Have I thanked you yet for organizing this incredible knit-a-long?

OK, I'm so signing up next year!! I had no idea Noise Putty was a possibility! We have something like that here, only it's called Flarp. My husband and I share an office and have adjoining computers so we can still see each other as we work or play on the internet. A favorite trick of mine is to sneak the Flarp under the desk and give it a good push, then laugh myself silly at the startled look on his face.

Your pal is brilliant!! Beautiful socks and fun gifts! Congratulations. :)

Posted by: the Procrastinatrix at August 21, 2007 11:38 PM

Those are great!

Posted by: Romi at August 22, 2007 1:37 AM

You really deserve such beautiful socks!!! Thou arest the sock goddess of them all!!!

I really enjoyed this swap, though I'm still waiting for my socks to arrive (and I know that they have been sent)... But is has been fun! So I'm also signing up next year!!!

Those socks are amazing- what colorway is that in the Silkie?

Thanks for the head's up about sock saviors- I have not heard from my pal or received any socks and wasn't sure what to do.

Posted by: Kaylee at August 22, 2007 7:37 AM

Oh wow, the secret inside picot edge of the socks is brilliant!!

Posted by: aija at August 22, 2007 8:57 AM

I love the Silkie and bought 2 more skeins at Stitches. The Monkeys look so good in that colorway!!!

The pink socks are adorable too!!

Posted by: Cathy at August 23, 2007 9:06 AM

I love making socks out of the Matchmaker Merino, and when I saw your pink socks on Jen's blog I just had to make my own. Of course, I've gotten sidetracked in another sock pattern since then, but it is still on my list.

"Plain" socks can rule too!

Posted by: Seanna Lea at August 23, 2007 5:00 PM

I have a huge problem! I never received my sock pal info, actually forgot that I signed up and then received a beautiful pair of socks in the mail today from Finland. I will still knit if you want me to be a savior or if you can find who I was originally connected to. Please help!

Posted by: Eleni at August 24, 2007 3:18 PM

Hi Alison, I'm another gal who's not received any socks yet. I really enjoyed making socks for my pal, and she has had them and loves them, but I've not heard a thing from the pal knitting socks for me, and I'd just like to know at what point do we assume socks are not coming?

Posted by: Lucy at August 25, 2007 1:41 PM

I sent off my pal's socks over 3 weeks ago and haven't even heard whether they've arrived. I've been e-mailing on a daily basis and haven't had a response. I'm disappointed to say the least.

Also, I haven't received my socks yet despite my pal contacting me to say they'd be finished a week or so ago.

Posted by: Linda at August 27, 2007 11:27 AM

Both pairs are just gorgeous!
