we have intrepid living room explorer, baby L, discovering new worlds (like the camera case),
The hat was really fun to make, the details like the bobbles, wings and braids are very well explained in the pattern and the final result is just adorable. I made wee one's hat extra big so she can wear it all winter long and next year too. My favorite part was doing the braids. As I was braiding the i-cords, I thought, this is the first time I've fixed my daughter's hair. Awwww. (Yes, I've made her hair before, but that was just one big hair helmet - this time I got to actually give her a hair-do.)

She is the cutest, pudgiest little viking I've ever seen. I just want to love all over her little cheeks! Careful, though, she's so cute in here new hat strangers (other than myself) may also want to love on her.
What a cabbage patch kid face! Makes me want to make one for my (very distant) future child!
That is possibly the cutest baby hat I've ever seen.
That is utterly fabulous. L makes a wonderful Viking, especially with those blue eyes!
Baby L would make Siegfried's heart go pitter-patter!
That last picture is priceless -- it is about the cutest ever!
What a cutie! That last one looks like my daughters Cabbage Patch doll!
I wonder if they make this pattern for grown-ups...
It was easy to size up. Just get the pattern and cast on a larger multiple. I cast on 8 more stitches for wee one's hat and it juuust squeezes on my head - another 8 or 16 more and it would fit me great. You meed more yarn though! And there's no need to change the wings or the braids at all. Too fun!!
I can't handle how cute this is! Monty Python Vikings are my personal favorites!
Aaaww, too cute for words!! Baby L can come join our viking group any time. And those braids... omg!!
She is too cute!! She makes a great model. Wonder if my boys would wear braids!? Nah!
TOO cute!! Just adorable!
That hat is hilarious! She is so cute.
SO CUTE! LOVE, Love, love the braids - and just in the right shade of Barbie yellow (or was it just me that colored her hair that color?)
Awww! She looks so cute! (And if you want to email me one or two of the photos, I'd love to add them to the Bella customer gallery!)
She is sooooo cute! Those round cheeks and big blue eyes. What a sweet Viking girl!
So amazingly awesomely cute! I can't believe how different it makes her look. Like a cabbage patch kid or a little girl, or something totally different from the baby L we know and love!
It's great!
That's maybe the cutest thing I've ever seen! She looks like a little cabbage patch kid in the last photo with the braids, absolutely adorable!
so super cute! question: does she pull on the braids at all? are they attached in such a way that they would stand up to a baby who does tend to pull on cords, etc?
Oh my gosh, cuteness just oozes out of her! I can't want to see you both in the pictures! ;)
She is too cute in that hat! Excellent job!
Oh, she's so cute! I love it too!
that is a cute hat. i studied viking archaeology in grad school, so the horned helmet is a always a sore point (along with dinosaur questions). thanks for including those links - i appreciated them! i think my favorite part of the hat is the i-cord braids....
Love the baby viking! She's ready for the opera. Just wondering, does she have Brunhilde-strength pipes? She always looks so cute and well-behaved!
she is absolutely adorable! and so is the hat.
She is just the cutest wee thing, and that hat is adorable. :D
OMG that is too cute for words...that just made my day and cheered me up a little.
Helga...LOL...did you ever see "What's New Pussycat" ?
OMG, how awesome is that, too cute for words :o)
Now have her brothers sing for her:

i am overwhelmed at how adorable she looks
She is too cute! I love the hat.
Fan-freaking-tastic! That is about the cutest thing I've ever seen. I feel woozy from all that cute!
Well. That is pretty darn cute. The span of time when your daughter(s) "let" you fix their hairdos, welcome it in fact, can be short. so enjoy! Does Wee One have actual hair on her actual head yet?
Cute overload! Those little braids are too much. SO sweet!
Squeeeeee! So cute! My husband even likes it - and wasn't scared when I told him that I want to make one when we have children, too. Great job on this cute and fun project!
Wee One's soo adorable! She's going to make a lovely viking. Great job!
Those cheeks and that hat - too cute for words!
She is too cute for words!
That is a seriously cute kid! Great pictures!
That is just the end. There's a baby due in our family at the end of October and I am so-o-o-o-o hoping it's a girl so that I can knit one of these.
Those cheeks! So cute...and perfect for a viking.
So cute and I love the braids. I keep expecting her to break into Wagnerian song.
Most adorable baby and baby hat.
Oh my gosh Alison, you've done it this time!!! She is A-FREAKING-DORABLE! I laughed out loud when I opened up your blog today, too too cute! I may have to make one of those for my wee one!!!
OMG. I just died of cuteness.
OMG.
She is beyond adorable!!
Holy crap! That is the cutest thing yet and you've posted some darned cute photos of that adorable baby on your site before. I'm agog at her cuteness. I show all my friends your blog so they too can bask in the cuteness of your child. Awesome hat!!
That has got to be one of the most adorable pictures I've seen in quite some time. Not surprising. The equation of cute baby + nifty hat = amazingly cute baby.
ACK! So much cuteness in one blog post! Seriously, that is one of the coolest projects!
I laughed out loud, too.
That hat brings out the colour of her eyes.
Is it possible this hat is cuter than the blonde hair wig?!
I'd love to see a mother/daughter pic(s) with matching viking hats.
It's getting harder and harder to pick favourite pics of L. This one's right up there.
Eeee she looks ADORABLE i love that on her!!! what a great hat
I am speechless at all the adorable cuteness she sends out into the world!
OMG...I just burst out loud with a SQUEEE!!! at that cuteness.
That hat is so cute! I might need to make one for my niece!
OMG- I could plotz with the cuteness!!!!
She's so cute in that first picture I couldn't even tell if she was real! She's a doll baby!
The picture of your daughter is absolutely priceless. I just love it. The hat and braids are just too cute.
If the real Vikings were that cute, they'd be ruling the world today.
Oh heavens, one should seriously put a warning in your bloglines feed that Severe Cuteness Awaits! Those eyes, those cheeks! (The knitting's adorable too, but the combination of all three is astounding!!!)
wee one is just too adorable and you are one fun momma to have!
That is the cutest thing I have seen all day!
I love the hat. Love it, love it, love it. Though it's more of an Asterix/Obelix type hat than a Viking hat, isn't it?
This is by far one of the cutest babies I've seen!
Too cute! Just too darned cute!
That hat is way too adorable. I showed it to my office mom's and grandmoms and now they all want me to make one for them.. cool and not cool, I am working on my christmas knitting : ). Wee One is just to cute. : )
Completely, totally adorable!
Every single one of these pictures bring a smile to my face.
So adorable~!
She looks just like a cabbage patch doll I have...she's precious!!! Oh, and the hat is cute too..
Now I want to go watch the Looney Tunes "What's Opera, doc?" episode again.

Oh!! The last picture is PERFECT.
OMG, that last picture of Wee One is just adorable. Look at that cute face! :) The hat is awesome. I love it.
That last photo is the cutest ever. She makes a fabulous viking!
So cute! Every little detail in that hat is just perfect! And with her blue eyes, she really looks like how I think many people think the Vikings looked.
She is soooooooooooooo cute! Definitely looks good in braids.
That hat is truly inspired! (and the model is super cute too!!) She makes the same face my Peanut pants does with that big-cheek-baby-smile thing.
hinga dinga dergen!
she's so cute!
so lovely! and of course you have the cuter model!
