big baby, big mittens

Yes, wee one is a chubby girl. She's got the cheeks and the big baby legs and big hands to go with 'em. So the mittens I knit for her one night last week while she was sleeping ended up being ridiculously small.

I went back to the book and knit the next size up. You know, it's only been a week, but I had totally forgotten how soft and squooshy this Knitpicks Swish is. It's sort of made it a pleasure to go back and reknit these mittens.

But before I get ahead of myself, I still have to try this new one on her before I knit its mate. Fingers crossed that it fits! Big fingers.

Bébé Précieux L,
Just laugh and coo when Momma says such things! From you beautiful head to your nibble-toes, you are a true wonder of this world. That's why there's just a little more of you to love.

In my family, we call them little Buddha-babies, stick our faces in their bellies, and blow raspberries to hear that happy baby guffaw.

Gah. Your blog is making me want kids, or at least want my friends to have kids.

they grow so fast. sometimes it seems they grow an inch overnight,

your Wee One had a round shaped face, and everybody associates that with being chubby- not always the case.

what is the case- she's adorable and healthy. and adorable! we were oohing and ahhing at her pictures in that cute hat. bundle of joy is right.

Didn't they say before she was born that she had a big head?

What goes with a big head? Big hands of course.

That homemade baby food has paid off. She's looks incredibly healthy and look at the responses to the last blog entry!

Baby L is adorable - she is at the other end of the spectrum from our Baby M who is a skinny little girl - just like her Mommy was. Both are as cute as can be - both adorable blue eyed blondes. And j's comment about the chubby cheeks is certainly true. My girls were both always quite slender - had to find slim sized clothes for them. But the older one had (& still has at 34) chubby cheeks - people always thought she was chunky even tho she was actually in the bottom 25% of the weight range for her age & height.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a baby having a leg roll... or three, in my case :) She's cute and those mittens will look adorable on her!

Both my boys were little fatties, right up until they got their feet under them. Then they ran it all off in no time.
I can't believe L is CRAWLING already - has it really been that long since I started reading your blog, and she was just a tummy-bump?

The same thing happened to me. I made a lovely mitten for my son and was so excited to get home and try it on him before I made the next one.. too small.

Which drove me nuts.. I knit a second one, it was closer.. but it's still not big enough. One more try..

This is a beautiful, healthy baby! Let's don't project all our fat-phobias on her. She is fine.

Well, of course she's fine. Ain't nothing wrong with a chubby baby! We love every inch of those pudgy legs and sweet cheeks. :0)
