ikea trek, the next generation
Seems like ages ago that I used to drive down to the New Haven Ikea with the boys to meet up with grandma for the afternoon. Once Ikea finally opened a store in our area we stopped making those long trips down to New Haven and I actually did a lot less shopping at Ikea. But last weekend when I was thinking of a good place to stop with the baby on our road trip down to NYC, my mom suggested our old friend, the New Haven Ikea: it's about half way, has food, comfortable spots for nursing, and lots of space for wee one to walk around and see interesting things. It was brilliant!

She loved the kids' furniture area. And I spied some fun fabric there too!

Ikea quilt!! Actually, all of their fabric is way cool, but the very large scale of the prints in most of them make them difficult to imagine in a quilt. Better for curtains and such. But these stripes are so fun and could totally work. I just gotta find the right pattern. And maybe make another visit to get some coordinating solids. Hee, hee, hee. Wee one won't mind the trip!

You are so right! The fabric at Ikea lately is so neat! It is really hard not to walk out with some, but some of it is hard to figure what it will end up as! LOL
Ooh, we have a (pre-made, I didn't buy it as fabric) made out of the red and orange stuff. I love it. You could easily use either of these as a quilt back and use coordinating colours for the quilt top, no?
What about a duvet cover?
Mmmmmmm....fabric. Our nearest Ikea is about an hour and a half away...I think I need to make a trip down there. Love that fabric!
Love Ikea - my daughter & I occasionally take the kids there for lunch. She wrote the Ikea headquarters about how everyone so nice & helpful to her when her bag of waters broke with Baby M & how we went there for dinner & to take pictures at the very spot where it happened for Baby M's first birthday. In return, she received a very sweet letter from the local store manager about how nice it was to hear such nice things about the employees & enclosed were coupons for 5 meals in the cafe & a $30 gift card.
Seeing those fabrics makes me want to run out and buy some! Last I was in my local IKEA, I didn't realize that they sold fabric; is it new? In any case, I think I should make a trip!
Oh, I was sooo excited when the Stoughton Ikea opened, too! I haven't been in a few months, but I've been eyeing some things in their catalog, so I might have to make a trek soon. The last time I went my son had a great time- he was probably about the same age as Wee One is now. I love how kid-friendly Ikea is. Not to mention their wonderful (and inexpensive) products! My house could be an Ikea catalog... if I ever cleaned it, that is.
Wee one is so cute. She looks really busy, like toddler busy.
We have one close by(in Delft, 15 km from where we live), but lately that one is so crowded that they have to close the interstate exits to Ikea. I love to wonder over there, they always have something to see or try. Your wee one sure has fun!
I love Ikea and then again, I dislike it with a passion! I love the style and have furnished our home with a lot of their stuff, most recently storage and curtains! When my youngest was small, we went there and she was entertained all the time, she even had her face painted so beautifully. What i dislike is the way I always feel exhausted at the end of a session in there, my trolley is always full of things I didn't know I needed and then the queue...but the reward of an ice cream just before going home is great!
Mmmm...Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam... Unfortunately the nearest IKEA is four hours away, though I hear they're building one closer. Everytime we travel within 50 miles of IKEA we need to stop.
Oh, the New Haven Ikea! I live in New Haven, and that store is the source of many a piece of dorm room furniture for me and my friends. Next time you're in New Haven, Yarn LLC is a great little store to visit--they have lots of handspun from farms in Connecticut.
