sock on!

You all know me too well to have ever doubted that I'd ignore all the sops and just go ahead and start the waving lace socks (from Interweave Knits Spring 2004 and Favorite Socks).

I'm liking the pattern but am a bit conflicted about the result. The sock lover in me keeps saying that they are really lovely, but the embossed leaves lover in me keeps saying that they ain't no embossed leaves. No conflicts about the yarn though; the Gems Merino is wonderful to work with and I love the color. I hope my pal doesn't mind that they're such a simple solid color, but I thought this color was just so pretty.

So we're about half way through sockapalooza now and have 84 reported finishers. Way to go! You can see who's done on the big list. And hubby's added a new link there that will take you to the blog of a finished socker. So be sure to include the URL of your post or image of finished socks in the appropriate space in the database when you update your info, so we can all see your finished socks!

Sock on, my fellow paloozas!

That sock looks really nice. I should get going on my pal's sock!

That's really pretty!

I think the color looks great with that pattern. Your pal should be very pleased.

Well, if you ask me, I like this pattern much more then the embossed leaves, and I also think it's good you are using a solid color because IMHO I think if you use a verigated color and a fancy pattern then it's just too "busy".

I could only wish that you had my name, because I think those socks are just SO CUTE! and purple...**LoVe** the purple!

Did I miss the pattern name...or is it just 'waving lace socks'?

Sorry, Teresa, I'll add the pattern info to the post.

Even though I'm not doing the sock exchange, I can still have an opinion, right? Love the color and the top edging. Hmmm - wonder if I could borrow that edge for another sort of sock?

I love them!

Posted by: Danielle M at June 26, 2007 11:50 AM

They're beautiful! My waving lace socks are my favorite socks, ever. Your pal will love them.

Posted by: Brynne at June 26, 2007 11:55 AM

They're perfect just the way they are.

I'm not a part of sockapalooza either, yet.

More baby pictures, please.

Kid-type pictures would be good, too.

I love making Waving Lace Socks. Even after at least a dozen pairs! they look much better on a foot than on the needles..

I love these! I love my embossed leaves, but now I want these, too. I think you may have just convinced me to buy that book finally.

Posted by: Lara at June 26, 2007 1:39 PM

Love this pattern. Besides, how many pairs of embossed leaves socks can you own? Wait. Don't answer that...

Posted by: Emmie at June 26, 2007 1:41 PM

I got almost those exact socks for sockapalooza I and I love them. Same color too (Lorna's Laces). I don't think they're boring at all.

Very pretty! I like them! I haven't started my socks, yet, but I've been thinking about them alot. Does that count? hehehe I needed to get my trip to visit my grandbaby out of the way. So, now that I am home, I'll be casting on any day now.

I've worked with Louet yarns before and I love it. I think that your pal won't mind a bit about the solid once they're on her feet. Plus, with the abundance multi-colored sock out there a person needs a few solids to even out the score.

I started that pattern toe-up with my favorite yarn, STR lightweight. I wasn't pleased and ripped them. Yours look better than mine did! I think these socks fall prey to the "lace is ugly until its done" rule- somehow the embossed leaves socks seem to fly in the face of it.

The colour is great with that pattern, your pal should be very happy!

Posted by: Peeve at June 26, 2007 6:25 PM

Ooh - I love that pattern. I might have to try it myself.

Pretty color, and pretty pattern! Great sock so far.

Posted by: Danielle at June 26, 2007 10:07 PM

maybe they aint no embosssed leaves, but they sure are purty anyways. Perhaps you'll feel the love by the time you finish em?

It's a fun pattern to knit; I made them at some point in the past for my sister, and the thing I noticed the most about them was how fast they grew compared to most other socks I have knit. And I knit them in the same color, too! Yay!

I made this pattern a while back and just loved it. They look gorgeous when worn, so press on! You won't be disappointed.

I have a quick question about the database . . . I finished my sock pal socks yesterday, so I tried to access my account to update it and indicate that I'm done! But I entered my e-mail address three times today and never received an e-mail with a link to access the database site. I've received e-mails from the database before, to get my sock pal's information, so I'm not sure if there's a problem on my end or not. Will you please let me know if there's something I can do to fix my access problem? Thanks!

Wow the colorway is gorgeous! Great job on the sock.
