webs weekend

The people at Webs are soooo cool! First, I got to be on their local radio show (which is also online as a podcast). They chat about their lives and their store. It's all very down to earth and fun to listen to. I really enjoyed being a part of their show.

Then, on Sunday, the big day, we had the book signing at the store. They set up a table for me and I put out all my samples from the book.

But that's not all, they had set up a whole potter party table with a Harry Potter cake, Bertie Bott's jelly beans, and "dragon snot" green sherbet punch too! This was like the 9 year-old Harry Potter party I never had!

check out the cake!

They raffled off house color yarn kits and gave away tiny bookscarf kits. There were at least 15 Knitsmiths there (I love you gals!), as well as lots of other Potter (and yarn) enthusiasts!

After chatting with fellow Potter fanatics, I got everything on my yarn list (and more!), including yarn for a baby shrug and baby pants for baby L, yarn for a dolly bag for a friend's daughter, and of course all the yarn for the boys' tiger and lion animals (yes, B has switched from a bee to a lion - he didn't want S getting anything that seemed cooler than what he was getting!). The boys actually greeted me at the door when I got home by yelling, 'did you go to the big yarn store?! did you get the yarn?!' Oh yeah!

Your boys are too cute! They are going to love their new animals. I really must check out that store in person. Haven't picked up your book yet, but it is on my list...My sockapalooza socks are almost done!!

Someday I hope to make it to Webs -- sort of an east coast yarn mecca.... The party looks fun!

Clearly you are raising those boys right! Happy that you had so much fun at your event.

Is it just my eyes, or are they twins?

I'm glad it went well - I'm so sorry I missed it! This whole house fixing up thing is just taking up so much more time than I thought - couldn't sneak away for the day. :(

Alison, I know that travel with a small baby may be out of the question but do you plan on any book signings on the west coast later this year?

It's like a Mother's dream come true! Music to my knitter's ears! What a lucky Mom you are to have children who cheer for yarn shopping. Your training them well. Next, get the Husband to cheer and your all set.

had to tell you :) I was at Barnes & Noble this wknd...looking at knitting books, hoping to get inspired...when a woman came up to me and said, "ohh, by the bags on the ground by you, I can see you don't work here...I'm looking for a book...something to do with Harry Potter and knitting." I got a big smile on my face and let her know that while I didn't work there, I knew exactly what book she was looking for...(yours!!) and gave her the title as well as your name--I wish you were coming to Seattle to sign!! ;)

Sounds like a wonderful time!

So cute! Yeah for you and the book signing too!

Wow, that looks like a lot of fun! I think I'm going to request a Potter birthday party for myself!

Hmmm, you must be doing a better job raising your kids than I am. When I pull into the parking lot of the LYS, my 3 year old son wails, "Nooooo, mommy, not the yarn store again!"

Have fun knitting!
