Originally begun ages ago as a "hugs and kisses" sweater (like the one I made in 2006), I eventually decided that yarn and pattern weren't working and revamped this entire project. New pattern - Tide from Miss Bea's Seaside - and new yarn - Knitpicks Shine Sport - came together quickly and beautifully. The original Tide pattern calls for denim yarn, which shrinks after washing, meaning that the pattern has you knit the sweater a bit larger than the final measurements. But I'd heard that the Miss Bea patterns sometimes run a little small, so rather than make adjustments for the cotton/modal blend that I used, I followed the original instructions as written. The lace pattern is lovely and easily learned. And it makes this otherwise basic sweater just as sweet as can be!
